Hi Everyone!
I am 20 years old and got bit by a tick the other day. I didnt think anything of it, been around them my whole life.  Then the bit started to become very itchy and slightly swollen, look like a nasty mosquito bite.  It's nothing compared to the pictures I've seen.  This happend on a Sunday and about Friday I started having severe skin sensativity.  I wan't able to wear jeans they hurt so bad.  The next day it developed into severe pain through out my entire body...it varies from sharp pains in random parts of my body to short muscle spasms.  I do also have a slight fever.. I'm constantly extremely cold or burning up..   Basically I am in so much pain that i just want an answer and want to know if anyone is in the same place? Is it possible to have my symptoms and not the rest and to start having them so quickly?   I have been under A LOT of stress and wonder if the tick bite is just a coincidence???

Thank You

Ticks can carry a lot more than just Lyme. My daughter's tick also had rocky mountain spotted fever. I would get yourself to a doctor. If you still have the tick, it can be tested to see what it is carrying. An LLMD would be ideal (Lyme Literate Medical Dr). Tests for Lyme are very unreliable so it is often diagnosed by clinical symptoms.

I hope you can find a LLMD very soon to get the correct diagnosis of what that tick gave you. It is not coincidence that you are sick after the bite.
The sooner you start antibiotics the quicker you will recover. I was very sick after my tick bite and was told repeatedly that it had nothing to do with the tick. If only I had followed my gut instincts and done my internet research earlier, I would not continue to be sick years later.

PS
the reason it is important to see an LLMD is because they know the antibiotics that work best, the correct amount to give you and the length of time you need to take it to recover. The most common reason for treatment failure is too little antibiotic and/or taken for too short a period of time.
An LLMD will also be familiar with co-infections that need to be addressed. You could treat one disease ignoring others until they are all firmly established. Good luck.

Thank you for your replies.  I went to a trusted family doctor and she put me on Doxycyclin Hyclate and Nystatin (prevents yeast build up from the antibiotic).  Is anyone familier with these?  I would go to an LLMD but we don't have specialists like that in our area AND I'm scared I'm blowing this out of proportion.  I'm supposed to be getting a blood test soon.  Anyone have any idea how soon it will show up in a blood test? AND.....do my symptoms sound like lyme?  Do they come and go or are they constant?  Thanks!

3625..you sound like a new lymie to me. It would be very helpful for you to go back on this forum and read as much as you can. You will see a pattern and learn so much more.
Everyone on here is so sick. And everyone on here is liking a walking abx specialist...or course they, we know what doxy is...lol
Get to reading this forum. Go back to April of last year. You will be sort of scared after wards...but then again..you should be. sorry.
There are many different options and you should read about the different one that there are...and many do not agree on any of them. See who has had progress. And with what.
Many long stories on here.
The thing that sucks is that the abx will not work for you. And the things that will are not going to be covered by your insurance.
Should you be concerned? yes very.
Get your blood tested at Igenex.com
Quest is BS.
Will your insurance cover it?
no.
good luck....get aggressive about getting better.
I got better after 5 years and 35 Dr.s at envita. the thing that sucks about it...it is not covered by insurance. And it is expensive and most cannot afford it. It is really a hard ordeal. You need to get your parents involved and get on this very agresively so that you can finish school.

2004 in Martha's Vineyard me and my two daughters then 11 mos and 6 all got Lyme Disease. This was only known to us because we found the tiny ticks on us and we got very ill. My dog also got lyme and he went lame.
We have fought it for 4 years to no avail.
We all got it again this summer is Texas.
I am now in treatment in Scottsdale Arizona at Envita.

doxy did not work for me...right after my bite.
amoxy 1,200 was given to my 5 year old again last summer..she wieghs only 44 pounds. this kicked it. she was on it for 40 days.
till the fever broke she got up to 106.
don't just do doxy. get a mix in there in case of co infection.
ask in a post what people on her recc. for a recent infection. that is the rigth question to post.
Or I will do it for you.

I appreciate all your information SO much! I have so many questions and it's nice to finally get some answers. I am going today to get tested for Lyme and my thyroid levels tested. Thyroid problems run heavenly throughout my family. I'm not sure what lab is testing it, but I will ask. I have gottten my parents involved and I know I can count on them to do whatever it takes. (I've been one expensive medical project..haha) Wow, I can't believe how largely you are affected by lyme! Good luck to you, and thank you.. By the way.. Jawni is the name. :)

Jawni....This is all such a sad mess that is going on in the us and word right now.
It is like the new Aids.
It does as much harm.
You need to gt on immune support supp. asap. To help your body fight this thing...jail it if you will.
Stress will make you feel much worse and so will your menstraul cycle. and on and on...
Can you get Ozone therapy where you are?
Can you get to one of Oxygen beds to lie in? To help pump Oxy into your body to help it heal?
These are the things that work fast.
But these are the things that are very expensive and hard to find and not covered by insurance. But think that this is going to change. But in the mean time...people are suffering and dying.

I would n't panic. Caught early, it's not only treatable but cure rate seems high.

Get on 200 mgs of doxy for 30 days.

Follow it up with a visit to an LLMD.

Enjoy you're good health! It sucks every day with this.
