i have been on various antibiotics for 10 months or so. my doc is lyme literate, but seems to go with the safe (thus long term) protocol, so as to avoid herx and internal side effects; however i have not been getting better (extreme joint pain and stiffness is the main thing--now entering my jaw and eyesight has been a little funky). so in reading the ilads protocols for advanced lyme, i upped the dosage so as to get past the blood brain barrier. did this for a month. nothing. and since lyme evades antibiotics AND the immune system, i decided to be my own doc, as so many of us must do in desperate times, and pump in the probiotics, vit c, some detox and healing mushroom pills, kefir, kombucha. i don't know if this is foolish or not, but since antibiotics weren't doing anything anyway, and my tests havent come back "positive ENOUGH" to get i.v. treatment (which of course was last resort anyway), it couldnt hurt to try. does anyone know if simply building the immune system will kick it? and does anyone know a doctor near Philadelphia PA (or somewhat near) that does this things thru probiotics, food, etc? (if it doesn't help, but i get worse, my next step is cowden protocol). ANY THOUGHTS???

Email me (click the envelope icon under my name at the left) if you are interested in the name and contact info of an excellent Homeopathic Physician just north of Philadelphia. I saw this doctor when I was a teenager and she saved my life (literally - I was starving to death unable to eat, and she turned it around with a handful of homeopathic remedies and diet recommendations). Homeopathic physicians don't treat diseases, they treat individuals and their symptoms. In so doing, often diseases disappear or improve remarkably. If I still lived in Philadelphia, I would have continued seeing this doctor and probably would not have Lyme today.

Take care,
Chronic Lyme Disease, Gluten & Sulfite Sensitivity, Many Food/Inhalant/Medication/Chemical Allergies & Intolerances, Asthma, Gut issues (dysmotility, non-specific inflammation), UCTD ("Secondary Lupus-Like Syndrome"), Osteoporosis, Pancytopenia, chronic malabsorption/malnutrition, etc.; G-Tube; Currently TPN-dependent.
Meds:  Zofran, Pulmicort, Heparin (to flush PICC line), Claritin, Colloidal Silver (used topically), IV Milk Thistle, probiotics.

Am with you goldielox.

ABX -- the doses, the quantities and the volumes for what -- they lied on my file about what they were treating me for... so I don't trust LLMDs...seems like they sometimes don't want to hear about you're getting well -- they lose a customer if they do. So they treat us indefinitely -- a war on terror if you will -- a war on a bacteria that they don't even know exists.

I am experimenting off ABX. I have more energy now that's one thing. The rest I'm still trying to figure out. I feel like I have TMJ too and some other issues. I hope and prey everyone gets treated but also gets well. cured and never to return to this site.

Hi goldielox,
Welcome to the forum!  Yes, I hear you loud and clear and you hit the nail on the head as far as building your immune system and detoxing.   By detoxing you are building up your immune system and the ways to detox are endless.
I feel the best immune boosting supplements are the natural ones and there are many.   I come back to post because I really enjoy helping others since I am have been well for almost 4 years now.   In my case, I didn't see any doctors, I used a protocol from a book and did it all from home after trying different regimes.
I also became my own advocate and it's such a joy to be all better!   If you want more information you can also e-mail me.
Good luck to you,
Denise  :-)

i will email you, razzle, about the doc. thanks.
i had more energy litterally a few days after adding probiotics to my protocol; suddenly i did not need to desperately lay down in the middle of the day--it was crazy, but the ONLY bit of improvement i had seen in 11 months. thus, it made me wonder if busting it with probiotics and all that goes with it may be worth a try. i am experimenting too. but i just don't know if building just the immune system and the gut flora etc. will FIGHT this thing, or does it need to be zapped hard-core by some i.v. abx? my doc thinks that over time, with low dose abx and cutting out the sugar and sugar substitutes, and ALL flour and grains, that it will at least get the lyme down to its seed form, and then just be maintainable. but first off, that will take FOREVER, and secondly, i dont want to be (and shouldn't be)on abx for the rest of my life! i won't have intestines! i know there's a better way. some of the stuff i read said that the whole reason i got lyme in the first place was because my immune system wasn't where it should be, otherwise i would have fought it off.
