I noticed that if I eat vinegar, for exaple if it is in bread or cucumber with vinegar, my anxiety goes up and I cannot handle it. Do you think that it can be from lyme?
have lyme for about 4-4.5 years. I've just got positive lyme test.

Lyme, a coinfection (Bartonella, Babesia, etc.), or yeast could do this.

Fermented foods such as vinegar are typically high in yeast. If you have a yeast overgrowth in your body then fermented foods may trigger or worsten symptoms of that yeast overgrowth. I think anxiety can be one of the symptoms of yeast overgrowth.

Lyme can also cause one to become chemically sensitive or to develop food sensitivities.

Have you been tested for yeast imbalance/overgrowth? Taking antibiotics often causes an imbalance in yeast in the body. Probiotics and a low-carb diet can help, but medication or antifungal herbs may also be needed to restore balance.

Anxiety is a symptom of Lyme and some of the associated coinfections. Not sure how this is connected with vinegar unless the vinegar kills some of the bugs and thus creates a herx/die-off reaction that manifests as anxiety...

What does your doctor say about this?

Good luck,

Razzle,

Thank you for the answer. I didn't ask the lyme doc about vinegar, but i'll...

Could you tell me what kind of test is the yeast imbalance test? And which doc do this?

There is a stool test done by Genova Diagnostics lab (www.gdx.net) that can check for intestinal yeast imbalance; also there are blood tests that can look for antibodies to yeast and can also culture the blood for yeast growth. Naturopathic Physicians are usually way more familiar with diagnosing yeast imbalance/overgrowth than any other type of physician, although there are some integrative MD's who are also open to the idea. Some LLMD's (probably the ones who are more integrative in their approach) are also savvy about these things.

I hiope this helps - take care,

Yes, Razzle you Rock!

I agree with Razzle completely.
If you haven't had any testing done yet, your going to need much more than just the yeast testing.

I just started BioSet treatment. It tells you how your whole body is doing and what needs help. Then it helps your immune system to kind of "reset" itself to a healthy state that can fight off the bugs youv'e got going on. I post a new topic on it that will give more details.

But talk with your LLMD about checking out you GI tract. If it's not healthy, the meds aren't going to work. Lyme affects your Whole Body! Read up on how each body system is affected, then you'll have a better understanding of what to talk with your doctor about.

much luck,
Lisa
