Hi, My husband and I were in the woods in late February. 19 Days later he had a red, itchy bump on his scrotum. The next day he had a hot, itchy, hive-like rash that lasted about 10 days. The rash started at the bump and spread outward and cleared up the same way. He had heart palpitations and chills during this time. From that point on he had pain in his knees, elbows (joints..) which came and went, had a sudden onset of floaters which are still there. He still feels pressure in his head also. He is beginning to feel he is losing short term memory... having trouble with organization and sequencing when things took place in a day or week or when conversations have happened. He has lost some sensation when it comes to touch, body temperature, smell, and taste. Insomnia developed shortly after the rash went away... Right now he is on anxiety medication--- although he was not anxious at all until AFTER having the rash and all of the other symptoms. His neck is constantly creaking and cracking. He had a Lyme test done a few weeks ago which had a titer score of .81, our doctor said that was normal... how do you have ANY antibodies at all if you weren't exposed to them at some point??? I really need some help out there-- we continue to grow more and more frustrated every day. Right now we are waiting for the results of another test, they are supposed to be doing a Western blot also. He has been tested (neg.) for MS, lupus, arthritis... this is the only disease that covers all his symptoms--and started with a rash. Did anyone else have a neg. titer score but still have Lyme??? Does anyone else have these symptoms, a negative score and Lyme??? Thank you!!!

Hi MCG141, Welcome to the forum!!  There is a lot of useful info on this forum and people are friendly and willing to share their knowledge and experiences.  I am sorry you are having to face health issues.  Read the topic at the top of the first page of this forum entitled "The Basics, Newbies check this out".  It will have a lot of info to get you started learning about lyme.

To answer you questions:   Yes, your husband's symptoms are common to "lymies", and Yes, you can have a negative test but in reality, have the disease.  You need to find a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor (llmd) that knows how to properly test for lyme AND the coinfections that can all come from the bite of a tick or other vector.  Ask our member Ticker for suggestions on which doctors to see in your area.  You can also post a topic on the forum stating you need a doctor in your area and then members can respond to you about who to see.  It would be beneficial to post your email so that you can be contacted privately about doctors names.   You can also contact your state or local lyme disease association for recommendations.

There is a lot to learn, so prepare yourselves to "hang in there".  Find a doctor that will recognise the symptoms Clinically, and treat your husband based on his symptoms.  The tests can be very unreliable.  As you learn about these illnesses, you will see why they are so controversial and why people say it is like living in "Alice in Wonderland"-----where everything is upside down and backwards!

Best wishes for a speedy return to good health!

The line is faded not showing where Lyme came in. I became a new Mommy n my Lyme decided to show itself. Swollen elephant like knee and finger and limiting back pain. Bell's palsey, weight loss as if I had no muscle on my bones anymore. And much more text book lyme symptoms. To a Lyme doc, after alot of there is nothing wrong with you and a recommend to counceling,he said V this is Lyme. What kept me pressing on I had Lyme while I was pregnant. I know I was not infected while pregnant. I am watching her with an eagle eye. God Bless everyone. Love Veronica. Were the ones who know about Lyme not the doctors. Isnt that just mad? Backwards. Alice in wonderland.

MCG, I should really dig up my results from years ago before saying this--but I know I tested borderline high on the ELISA and my PCP gave me doxy for one month which of course was not long enough. He also had ignored me for 7 months before testing.

When I relapsed, he tested again and that time I was just over normal, so he gave me doxy for 6 months. Again, not long enough.

I think .81 is very high normal and with his symptoms, it sure sounds like lyme.

He needs an antibiotic--the sooner the better!

Yep...get on your antibiotics now. 31 days atleast. If it is doxy do not take the side effect of sun exposure not take any information about any drug any doctor or anything about lyme disease lightly.
