I am sure that most of you here know that yeast overgrowth can cause a lot of the same 'symptoms' as lyme - but I thought I would bring the subject up for 'newbies' or people who just haven't researched 'yeast overgrowth'.

Anti-biotics can cause more yeast - as they up-set the stomach acids - destroy the bad and good bacteria.

so whilst we are dealing with the lyme bacteria [trying to!] we could be getting symptoms from yeast overgrowth - lots of people on abx. notice new symptoms or worsening - which can be caused by 'herxing' but also from too much yeast.

one symptom of 'yeast' is a dislike of wet/damp weather - atmospheres - or feeling worse in these type of conditions.

The funny thing is that as much as I believe in and promote the yeast free diet, since I started the IV ceftriaxone, I haven't been able to follow it myself at all. I have to eat toast, pretzels, and crackers, and can eat a little bit of meat, to avoid running to the bathroom. I can't eat any fiber or vegetables or fruit right now. I did tolerate one strawberry the other day, which I realize is not technically on the yeast free diet. I am also on a low dose of Flagyl, to prevent C-diff, and take a good multivitamin, B and C, and probiotic. I have one more week of the abx, and then will begin to put my gut back together. I will also be going back on the herbal supplements and medicinal mushrooms that I had started prior to the IV. I also plan to add the herbal treatment that is supposed to kill spirochetes, just to be safe. Should I wait to do that though or start it right away?

I'm pursuing yeast overgrowth with my lyme right now.  6 weeks on biaxin.  Then 6 weeks on ThreeLac/Diflucan.  I'm hoping this will take me over the top.

What are your symptoms with the yeast?
