HI Everyone,

Thanks to Razzle and Kandinsky I finally started supplementing with Magnesium , I think its really working,I am sleeping much better, and the vibrating feeling on the left side of my body is not so bad,

I am currently taking the following supplements and I want you guys to correrct me if I am doing this wrong, I wonder if I should be taking more calcium than Magnesium but I really dont want to take more calcium because I have blood pressure issues, and am taking Coreg (beta blocker).

500mg of Magnesium Citrate

500mg of Calcium Citrate

3500 mg of D3

B6 100mg

mulitvitamin

Iron 2x a day due to very low feritin level

Is it possible Magnesium causes anxiety?

Thanks all for your help, glad I found this site

Judy, FYI if you are supplementing your iron you should also monitor your levels.  Too much iron is really bad and can cause alot of problems.  I would run that by your doctor.

Magnesium shouldn't cause anxiety...especially not at the doses you are taking. Check with your pharmacist to see if anxiety could be a known side-effect of any of your meds that may be getting triggered due to the change in your supplements.

Listen to your body - if you feel that you are taking the most calcium you are comfortable with, then go with it. If you feel you need more magnesium, then try it carefully & slowly and see what happens. Be aware that you may need to adjust your blood pressure meds if you increase the magnesium because magnesium can lower blood pressure.

That dose of Vitamin D3 looks good, too.

Good luck,

Hi Razzle,

Thank you so much for the response and the encouragement, my blood pressure was really low this last night so I think I will go back to 400mg of magnesium, my doctor doesnt want me to stop the blood pressure meds, I am on a very low dose of 10mg of Coreg,I think the anxiety may have been low blood pressure and I felt I was feeling good and wasnt sure what it is, my pressure was 98/60 last night, I would try the 500mg of Magnesium again but am scared as sodium does not raise my blood pressure and I dont like the dizzy feeling of low blood pressure, if there is any other vitamin you think I should take please let me know.

Hi Judy3,

I would like to add that you should try and stay hydrated.  My normal BP is 90/60, and if I get dehydrated even I feel dizzy and don't feel good.  Once while waiting for a dr. appt I missed lunch and didn't have anything to drink.  When the nurse went to take my BP I didn't have one!  She tried one arm, looked up at me kinda funny then said lets try the other arm.

Still nothing, she then went and got me a big glass of water.

Hi K0-LD,

Thanks for the reminder to stay hydrated, this is something I need to work on, 90/60 thats a great blood pressure number, Lyme Disease gave me diabestes and  high blood pressure, and I always think for LD to be gone is it good enough that I feel good or does my blood pressure and diabetes have to disappear too?

A person can get permanent damage from Lyme, but there is reason to hope that the Lyme getting treated may enable you to at least reduce your medications for the diabetes & blood pressure. Yes, the dr will want you to keep taking the meds because most are trained in how to use meds, not nutrition.
