Hey kendal-

I saw Dr. D today and I had blood test for Bartonella sent to Quest. I am not sure exactly what it was but not titer like Igenex. I am also going to do a urine Lyme to send out to Igenex.

He thinks my Bart is back and I do too...so I am starting on Rifampin which helped me before and Mino. I am also going to start Low dose naltrexone in a few weeks. I will keep you posted!

Kim: I have never heard of testing your urine for Lyme, does it show something different than the blood test? More accurate? Thanks  Diane

Diane,          My doctor said it is just a different way to test. It is called a Lyme antigen test (Lyme Dot Blot) .I have been off abx for 2 months so he thought it would be a good time to test again before I start up treatment for Bart.

I got the impression he thinks it might be more accurate than the blood test. I only had a few bands show up on the Igenex one. The urine one is also done through Igenex. I will let you know!

kendal- I have nerve irritation symptoms in my feet and calves which consist of burning, pinpricks, twitching, stabbing etc, muscle soreness in my right arm, sore ribs which moves around from front to back, insomnia, poor sleep quality, acid reflux, shin bone pain, and feeling like I am coming down with a flu, sweats in the morning and afternoon. Plus of course the worse for me FATIGUE.

The urine test is for Lyme and the blood test is for Bart. My insurance company paid for the blood test. I have to pay up front for the lyme urine dot test which is 70.00 to Igenex and then I will submit it to my insurance. Let me know how your appt. goes.

I think he is trying to find out if I still test positive for Bart..not sure why

I tested negative on the Quest urine test, but positive on the blood test, so its not as accurate as some doctors believe

kendal- no Dr. D is not my primary care...

The urine test I am having done is through Igenex not Quest. The Bartonella blood test is through Quest.
