I just started treatment yesterday and an hour or so after I took the Mepron, I had chills and fatigue. Now, I can barely move. Every muscle and bone in my body hurts. I'm very weak and I feel like I've been hit by a train. I've never felt this bad since I've had this disease. I'm not even on the highest dose of biaxin yet. I only took 250mg so far.

I really don't think I can do this. I didn't even have enough strength to get up and take my medicine today. I called my doctor but they are not good at returning calls on weakends. I have no clue what to do now. I just feel really bad. Worse than ever.

This is what I'm taking:

Mepron- 1/2 tsp 2x a day. (I know this is not enough but I am very sensitive to meds)
Biaxin- 250mg 2x a day (I only took 1 yesterday)
Nystatin- 500,000 units 4x a day for yeast

I take glandulars too ex: For my thyroid and adrenal glands, plus Vitamin C, Probiotics and some other stuff.

Please, what do you all think is going on?

CG, I am so very sorry! And I'm sorry, I have NO idea what is going on because I haven't even started abx yet. Maybe it's a really big herx or maybe it could be a bad combination of some kind? Is there anyone there w/ you? Do you have anyone who could call a pharmacy for you and ask about the thyroid meds + abx?

I know a big herx is supposed to be good, but it's not good at all for you to be this ill! I hope someone here can help you!

Here comes a big, fat prayer for you!

Lyme in NC in 1971? Suspect TBI: Fully engorged tick followed by high fever and tonsillitis. Follwed by , lumps on neck,  chronic tonsillits w/ constant low grade to recurring high (104) fevers, severe unexplained neck stiffness and acute neck pain.   Followed by tonsillectomy, urinary tract infections, miscarriage, appendicitis while pregant, chronic severe back pain. Followed by depression, mild anxiety, mitral valve prolapse, and hypglycemia.  What was this??

Bit again couple of times, lyme suspect bite Mother's Day 2007. Bite, symptoms, lyme specific antibodies on the most lyme specific band of all = 39 IgG.  Still awaiting appt w/ LLMD.

Hey...I do know that if you have a serious candida problem, the Nystatin can make you feel TERRIBLE...exactly like what you're describing...see if you can decrease that and see what happens... (?)

Can you start over? Start w/ the mepron -- week one.

biaxin --- week two.

etc?

Hang in there! Your healing days are coming and this will be a distant memory -- although not a pleasant one.

Can you try one med only to see if you can tolerate just one of them? Just a thought. I don't have that much experience with this to know if herx can happen that immediately. If it was definitely herx, it might be worth hanging in there, but if it isn't, you should stop until you can get ahold of the doctor. I don't know how to tell if it is a bad reaction or herx. Mine started at least 24 hrs after I got the IV ceftriaxone into my system.

When I was herxing, it helped to do the bath. It sounds like you are not up to even do that right now, but can your husband help you? Mine had to help me out a couple times.

I've been praying, knowing you were starting. Sorry that it isn't going well for you!

I am so sorry this is happening to you. I also think it's a good idea to maybe start over with one new medication at a time and see what happens. Feel better.

Thanks for the information everyone. I hadn't even thought of trying just one at a time. I felt so bad, I just wanted to stop. My God, who ever could imagine anyone wanting to stay sick rather than go through this.

I think I will try the Mepron and the Nystatin pills tomorrow and just take two Nystatin and see what happens. I'll do that for a week.

Thanks again everyone for the info and prayers. I truly appreciate everything!

I hope tomorrow is much better for you. Follow your own gut and do what you think is best until you can speak to the doctor. We can all give you suggestions and tell you what we've done but as the PA told me when I was experiencing symptoms after starting oral meds, she had no way of knowing how bad I was feeling and only I could make the decison to either stop all meds for a few days or eliminate one med at a time, as I suggested to her. If you really feel that bad maybe you should stop all meds and introduce one at a time. If you think you can handle it, then do the reverse and eliminate. I'm sorry I only suggested what I did earlier. I just remembered the conversation I had with the PA. Sorry!

You mentioned that you know 1 1/2 tsp. 2x day of Mepron is not enough but I've only been taking 1 tsp. 2x day for the past 4 months. Now you have me thinking I should up my dosage.

Hang in there and feel better. It will all be worked out soon enough.

Scorpio,

I'm so sorry! I am completely out of it today. It's NOT 1 1/2!! I'm only taking 1/2 tsp 2x's a day. Sorry about that! My gosh, what a day.

I was talking to my husband earlier, and he suggested I start off with just the Nystatin twice a day and work my way up with that one first. I have been having yeast problems for years with all of the antibiotics I have taken. I think that's what I'm going to do for like a week or two, then add the next med. I'm killing off 3 things at once. No wonder I feel so bad!

I'm not sure why you're sorry because you gave me good advice and I appreciate that.

CG, sorry your feeling so badly. and i iagree with everyone else. when my daughter was little and given 2 or 3 differnt meds we would do 1 every 3 to 4 days to check out how her body handled em. it is always a good ideal to do this when adding new meds for anyone, never should anyone add more then 1 new meds at a time. cause if you have a reaction you wont know witch one is the cause.

i was also reading one of the links posted in here by some Dr. cant remeber who tho, lord. anyways it stated flat out. you had to feel worst b4 you felt better when killing lyme. i know this isnt what anyone wants to hear. and specaily for the ones who have suffered a long time. i know i'm a baby when it comes to being sick. i never thought i was good with pain either, but i can handle that a lot better then a upset tummy.

remeber your in my prays and just a email away if you need me.
get well for me why ya at it..lol

Thanks RD. I appreciate the kind words. I feel a little better since I haven't taken anything today although, my ears, throat and Lymph Nodes still hurt and I'm still running fever. That all started hurting right away, blah! I was so tired too. Never slept so long in my life. I will just start with Nystatin tomorrow and see what happens.

Thanks again for being there for me:)

Hey Im sorry you are feeling bad ,The meds will make you feel like crap,Its hard to decide to take or not to take, THe medicine is healing our bodies but it also is making us feel worse, unfortunately it gets really bad before it gets better, anyway I think that you cant talk to a nurs at your dr office is bad,MY LLMd has on-call nurses that call back even on weekends! My LLMd is a well-known Lyme doctor and he believes that lymies dont have to take antibioitcs daily to achieve what they are there for,so he has all patients just do MOnday, wednesday, friday and breaks on the other days ,he find that this cuts down on herxs, sometimes meds cause herx no matter what,as soon as I take Flagyl which is only 2 days a month I cant get out iof bed for days, each one affects you differently, Hang on and you will find your dose, its a rollercoaster ride and its sucks, but we are all in this together!

Prayers

Nystatin is powerful. Have you considered taking something more natural for your yeast problems? I have Candex. Read a little about if it you'd like. It's like Threelac, but it's for people who are very sensitive to the yeast die-off reaction. I don't think it's that expensive...but a friend of mine sent me 20 or so to try. I believe it's around $40/bottle.

Sick of Lyme: Thats interesting that your doctor doesn't make his patients take antibiotics everyday. I totally believe that everyone is different and medicines work different ways on some people.

Jen: I do have a natural approach to dealing with yeast but I was wanting to see how the Nystatin worked first. The natural supplement I have is 3 didn't things and 2 are liquid. I don't do too good with liquid but if the Nystatin doesn't work, I am willing to suck it up.
