Hi all,

I always hoped it wouldn't come to this, but I think its time to discuss IV ABX with my LLMD.  I am alergic to Ceftin, so Rocephin is out and when I tried oral doxy for as long as my GI tract could tolerate, I was having trouble moving my fingers after a few days.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi Chris.  Did your doctor say you would for sure be allergic to Rocephin?  I ask because some people who are allergic to Penicillin are allergic to Rocephin.  I am allergic to Penicillin, but I was tested for Rocephin and was able to use it.

I believe that Claforan is similar to Rocephin but is easier on the gallbladder.  I don't know if it would be considered in the same family of medication.  There is also IV Zithromax and IV Vancomycin.  You can see the IV drugs listed in Dr. Burrascano's guidelines starting on the bottom of page 18 at http://www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/B_guidelines_12_17_08.pdf

I'm also allergic to penicillin and fortunately have had not problems with Rocephin.
