You're not going to believe this!  When I was getting dressed this morning I found a deer tick latched into my skin.  It pulled out really easily, so it couldn't have been there too long, but there long enough to turn the site pink.  Yesterday, it had rained, so when I was outside with the dog, I kept away from all the edges of the yard, and didn't touch a weed, plant or flower, just stayed in the cut grass.  Took my bath and showered off last night, and did not see the thing until this morning.

I am just getting the cefriaxone out of my system, went back to work yesterday, and it is hard not to be upset or to panic.  I know that they can't be all carrying Lyme, and we are treating it immediately.  Also sending the tick to be tested.     I still had 30 doxycycline left from

April before going on the IV.  I was planning to do an herbal treatment just to be safe to make sure the infection that was present is gone (still planning that).  I really wasn't expecting to be back on abx again this soon after the IV was just finished on June 1.

I do also always check my dog when we come in, but have missed them on him too.  My husband thinks it might have crawled off the dog onto me during the night.  It's a possibility.  I need to find something that works!  I haven't gotten out to look for B1 yet, and the chiropractor didn't have any.  This is crazy!

Omg!!!! Those little things just don't know how to stay away do they? My gosh, something needs to be made that helps keep them off of us. It's ridiculous that you can't even go outside to enjoy life.

I'm so sorry this has happened to you again! I will pray that that little pest does not have Lyme. I'm so sorry you have to get back on antibiotics.....again. Geez!

How long will it take for the results to come in?

BIG HUGE HUGS!!!!!

I can understand you being very upset....once you experience the lyme illness it is so easy to be paranoid. I hope I never get bitten again.

I'm very sorry, Turquoise. These nasty varmints are relentless! At least you are preparing for the worst, and at least you know what you are doing and what you need to do.

Thank you all!!!for the hugs and caring thoughts and prayers!!! I even have residents at work praying for me! I just still can't believe it! When I found it I just felt like crying, but had to calm myself down and think positive about this and not panic.

CG, She said it would probably take a couple weeks for the results of the tick, and that isn't always reliable either. It probably wouldn't matter anyway since I went right onto the doxy, but it would make me feel better to know.

I need to go to bed. I must still have the other med in my system because I have to take Benadryl to keep the hives down. I didn't have those at all in the 5 weeks of doxy in March and April. I did have them in 2005, the first time I took it, but had been on the pain meds abd muscle relaxers. I'm sleepy, but at least able to function at work. Just have to go to sleep now.

Your body must not be a good place for BB right now at least. I think it will all be ok. How nice to have IV I hope i get it soon.

Turquoise,

Keep us updated on the results. I'm glad you already have the meds and could start on them right away.

I am so sorry this happened to you!

I ask my doc if taking doxy would help is I was bit again. She said that it would
help against Lyme of course but it wouldn't do much for the possible co-infections

Please keep us posted!

V,
Thank you for the encouraging words!

It is creepy. It is a constant test of faith and takes courage for me to go outside, and I love my yard. But I can't live in fear. It's just part of my learning and growing, or I actually am insane for staying here. I have a feeling if I would invite any of you to visit me here I would have no responses!

JELAINEP,
Thank you! I love your sense of humor in your posts on here! You make me laugh!

CG,

I will keep you posted on the results as soon as I find out. I just worked my four day weekend, and despite the doxy and benadryl I am feeling pretty good. I think it's going to take a while for my knees to feel back to normal, or maybe this is how they are going to be, as my mother keeps reminding me I'm 43, but I didn't have arthritis before March! So I'm hopeful that they will improve. I go back to the chiro. today, still working on my tight back muscles, but improving. Glands ever so slighly still swollen. But other than right after taking the benadryl, my energy level is up enough to get me through the day. Thanks for your thoughts!

Woodswalker,

Thanks! Just your name sounds dangerous! Sounds like you are at constant risk too!

If it is caught immediately the doxy alone should be enough. I went to my PCP on Friday, but one of the things the ID MD said was that they won't test me again with the Western Blot. It already confirmed that there was a positive reaction in the past, and she said that other things can cause reactions to change on the results, so what she would do would be to treat me with the doxycycline if bit again.
