I am feeling so sick of antibiotics, I just have to tell you. Feeling miserable and sorry for myself today - even thought the Claforan has helped so much I can feel how ravaged my body is from all of this. It is so hard to know when enough is enough....

We really should write a "blues tune" smurf   shocked   shakehead    shocked   smurf   or, "green tune" rolleyes    blush   smhair   scool   smhair    blush   rolleyes   if you pefer;

I'm so sick of antibiotics
Feel so sorry for myself
Am I getting better or worse?
Lyme disease, what a curse!
"What's a picc line?" turns into, "How many picc lines?"
Then periphreal lines turns into, "How long?"
"Who are you?  New?"
"This is the basis of this song!"

OK - now everyone else has to add a line or two......

pcpc, I am painfully aware of how you feel. I too have felt down, defeated and toxic from antibiotics and have tried to go off with no success, having to return back to them after a few weeks to alleviate my symptoms. I pray the herbs I am taking work well enough soon so I can only be on them but for now I must keep on the antibiotics or I will not be able to function--they have worked that well for me--too bad it doesn't last once I go off.

Try to think positive and think of antibiotics as your friends and helpers rather than something that is not good for you--that will go along way in healing your mind and body. Someday soon.... I hope... your immune system will be able to keep the bacteria at bay on its own perhaps with the help of other things than antibiotics. For now be thankful that they are helping at all as it seems they are... aiding your body to heal and you are feeling somewhat better--it is wonderful you can work at all. I am certain this is because of your own diligence and determination in finding the best treatment for You. Be I believe you are from what I read- there is a message in all of this somewhere. You are probably aware of this but I will remind you anyway---that maybe your illnesses, experiements with meds and healings are being used to help those that come to you for help. After all we have been through-We Can Be Wounded Healers. That is a gift that Lyme has given us. All things work together for the good even when we cannot see it. Keep venting it is good. Blessings

And, how do you know what is from Lyme and what is from ABX?

Here's an addition --
I remember the days I walked with no pain
whether in sunshine or whether in rain.
But these are the days when deer I disdain
and spend many hours counting pills that remain.

Well said, minerals!

pcpc, have you considered asking your Dr about the low dose naltrexone? I'm gonna discuss this w/ my Dr BEFORE discussing abx.
Lyme in NC in 1971? Suspect TBI: Fully engorged tick followed by high fever and tonsillitis. Follwed by , lumps on neck,  chronic tonsillits w/ constant low grade to recurring high (104) fevers, severe unexplained neck stiffness and acute neck pain.   Followed by tonsillectomy, urinary tract infections, miscarriage, appendicitis while pregant, chronic severe back pain. Followed by depression, mild anxiety, mitral valve prolapse, and hypglycemia.  Was this a TBI??
Bit again couple of times, lyme suspect bite Mother's Day 2007. Bite, symptoms, lyme specific antibodies on the most lyme specific band of all = 39 IgG.  Still awaiting appt w/ LLMD.

pcpc - I hear you. . . I'm on my 14th week of Mepron, Zithromax, Plaquenil and supposed to continue for another few weeks. I took a break today. The neuropathy has steadily increased. I just can't stand it. I've wondered all along if the antibiotics are helping or making it worse. I've been on and off of abx since August of '08. I can honestly say that I feel worse today than when I set foot in my llmd's office. I switched to another llmd in 1/09 and went through round 2 of neurological testing (mri, spinal tap) to get back to the lyme diagnosis. I don't know if I should continue or stop.

I am waiting test results from Fry Labs and Igenex for babesia. I had another cd 57 which the nurse told me over the phone came back at 2 and 12? I'm not sure why there are two numbers. My first cd 57 came back at 22. Pretty depressing, as it has gone down further, I'm wondering if I'm losing the fight.

I went to an endrocronologist who had me do all sorts of tests, (hormones, thyroid, adrenals, cortisol etc.) The only thing significant that came out of it was a high level of iron with no explanation. I am being retested to be eliminate lab error. If this is positive again, I guess I go to a hemotologist? to have my blood flushed? to eliminate the high iron. I haven't read any where that this has anything to do with lyme, but thought it was interesting.

Hi pcpc and everyone else,
Yes, I understand what you are feeling as I was on Doxy and only felt worse.  What helped me was reading Dr. Jernigan's book called "Beating Lyme Disease" and then following his "healing at home" protocol.  I have been in remission for almost 4 years now from that protocol.  I owe my life to that book.
I think you would appreciate reading this book as much of what you have posted about is all there, Yin and Yang, etc.   Are you detoxing at all?
Hope you feel better,
It's all about the Immune System mixed with a large dose of Positive Thinking and Daily Detoxing   ~  Pay It Forward!!
This song is about my years with chronic lyme since 1995 and being in remission for over 3 years:
