I am confused and would like your input, when I developed Lyme Disease I also got Diabetes and high blood pressure, my diabetes is perfectly under control, my blood pressure is very hard to manage, it seems like it goes high a few days before my period and gets better as soon as I start bleeding and is back to normal after day 2, do you think this is caused by Lyme Disease or by some hormonal issue.

( I am off meds for about 1 1/2 years, was treated for about 1 1/2 years with different combinations of antibiotics and got better)

Hi Judy,

Have you ever brought this up to your doctor? It may be hormonal since it only happens around your cycle. I know Lyme Disease messes with you menstrual cycle too and symptoms can get worse around that time of the month. Since you're feeling better though, maybe it's more hormonal. Definitely let your doctor know.

It's funny I saw this today.  My LLMD put me on Cozaar (50mg) last month - bp was out of sight (has always been fine before Lyme) and seems to get worse around this time of the month (24-30) during the "spirochete reproductive cycle" (I don't have periods - had hysterectomy at 23 years of age).  She told me to give 50mg a month, if little or no improvement, we'll try 100mg, if that doesn't work, we'll try another drug.  I also now have to take atenelol for tachycardia (never had it before Lyme either).  Anyway, my BP last night was 163/110.  Called LLMD today - she's bumping me to 100mg.  I'm hoping it helps.  The atenelol works great - heart rate used to be 100-120, now down in 60s-70s.  So I'm wondering if your spirochete reproductive cycle coincides with your period?  Just a thought.
