what a nightmare!!!

couldn't sleep again.. i woke up at 5am, tossed and turned until around 8am, had to get up and go to the doc.. i took my Igenex papers and asked him to sign them for me so i could take blood and send them off. I had every co-infections taken through them.. He has never seen or heard of Igenex but didn't say no to my request.. He might of thought i was a little crazy.. Then i said i wanted a b12 test and vitamin d test and of course hiv test...

went to the lab and did all the test, the lady said the hiv test would be done in house and would have results back in about 20 minutes. so i go outside and pace around the building, i actually called gracies mom but couldn't reach her.. i waited around 3 hrs in the parking lot before going into the office and they said they don't have results. i ran down to the lab and asked for results.. they said they were being sent off and we be here tomorrow.. what a panic attack!! i'm totally freaked out as normal. how do i sleep? i'm once again stressed out.. thanks for reading my thread again.. i'm a hot mess!! my g/f comes back from cancun tomorrow, i would hate to tell her she needs to be tested.. I guess this is normal. i have alot of thoughts in my head right now...

Welcome to the Hotel California - You can check out any time you want, but you can never leave! This is the way it works.

Can you believe I acually had a dr. ask me why I had taken 2 HIV tests????? (AND I TOOK THESE TESTS WHEN I WAS WELL!)

I replied, "Because I was in for an annual physical and they asked me if I wanted an HIV test." I thought I was being cautious!

You know what they call the person who graduated LAST at their medical college? Answer: "Doctor".

Hi James,

I'm really happy you had all this bloodwork done, good for you!  I remember when I wanted to be tested for HIV because back in 1974 I had lots of blood transfusions due to a serious accident and I was terrified that the blood that was given to me was not tested for HIV.

When I went to have my test done, I didn't get the results back right away either.   But I remember feeling so very scared!!

I think if you had HIV you would have lesions all over your body which are different than lyme rashes.

Anyway, we are here with you and are holding your hand..   You will be fine, please take a deep breath and be proud of yourself for doing what you did!

I am keeping you in my heart,
Denise

James,

I can't imagine how you're feeling right now, but you DO need to sleep. I would suggest getting some Tylenol or Advil PM to get you through the night. Even a Benadryl or two would work.

I do want to tell you this...I remember you said you could have been exposed a while ago to HIV...and if you didn't know this already, it is very difficult for a man to acquire a disease from a woman. Much easier the other way around.

Did they just swab your cheek for the rapid test? If they were concerned, I'd imagine they would ask to get more blood from you. I also think it takes longer than a day if they do blood, but I can't remember because it has been so long since I was tested.

Keep us posted. Get some sleep.
Current treatment (began June 10th 2009):
Biaxin 1000mg/day, Pulsing Flagyl 500mg/day 1 Week Every Month

well heck, i would've never took the test again since my g/f is and hopefully still is neg back last aug..

but when you get sick and something goes totally wrong... and they rule out cancer, thyroid, and other stuff.. i'm like i need an hiv test then.. he asked, why? do you think you have hiv, i said i have no idea, but i' feel like crap for over 2 months and we have to figure this out..

best case obvisiously it comes back neg.. i can see myself saying, ok i need a re test, this isn't right.. just like i did with the quest test..

worst case..uhmm well, don't want to think that way...

they didn't do the swab test.. they just took blood and sent it off, i'm guessing to the cdc and they said they will fax the results over to the doc tomorrow, can you imagine the car ride and the walk in panic i will be having..

i was exposed to an unknown person that could've been positive, i have no idea her condition now.. what a mistake i made!!!

i know it could be harder for a man to get it, but i think about magic johnson press conference, saying he got it from one girl and his wife was neg.... this is my anxiety.. just pray for me... i think if i can get through this, i can beat lyme!!! i just need support.. and you all have given it to me 10 fold..

Hi James,

At least you had the test done..  Worse case, you get treated!  This is not like the old days.  From everything I read about your symptoms, I really do not think you have HIV.

By the way, my first symptom was a cough..  I found out later it was called a non-productive cough which is typical of ehrlichiosis.

And I still suffer from panic attacks!  I suffered from them since I was a little girl (it runs in my family) and I still get those awful panic attacks, especially when I am driving.  Very scary!!

James,
You are in a low incident state, Majic Johnson had unprotected sex with litterly thousands of women, while it is important to elimated this (it is highly unlikely, you are in much more danger from a car wreck) because we want that assurance that this is not HIV. I hope this finds you with good test results.

Gracies Mom,

Awwww thanks for that:) I'm just really glad he had you to talk to to help him through this. It can be very scary. I've been there, done that. I'm so glad we have this forum too. It's nice knowing that others know how you are feeling, especially when your family or friends don't understand.

James: I hope you are feeling good today. You are on all of our minds. We are rooting for you!
