I've just recently had to up my Antibiotics to 3 x's a day. Do I take my probiotics 3 x's a day now too? How much can someone take in a day? I was taking 4 a day before. Two after my first dose, and two after my second dose. Both two hours apart.

That's a good question. I take mine 2x a day in addition to the iv and I'm still only taking 4. As far as I know it's been doing the job but maybe I should up mine too. Can't wait to see the responses.

BTW, I love what you wrote in your signature line. It's so true! **You never know how STRONG you are....until being STRONG is the ONLY choice you have.**"

I just talked to the lady that supplies me my supplements and she said I can take up to 6 a day. It depends on how many bacteria are in your probiotics. Mine is fairly low so I have to take more of it to benefit from it.

You can't overdose on probiotics. Good to take them an hour and a half after your antibiotics. Even if that is 3 times a day.

My naturopath said it is good to switch them up every now and then. I like culturel, and I drink Kefer and "good belly" brand from whole foods. Good to use some refridgerated and some not. But personally I love Culturel.

LoveLabs,

Thank you for the info. I have another question. You said I could take probiotics that weren't refrigerated? The lady I get my supplements from said she switched to a time released one that had 14 billion(I think) bacteria. So I'd only have to take it once a day. It's not refrigerated. I thought it had to be refrigerated to keep the bacteria alive? What do you think?

RD,

I've used the ones that didn't have to be refrigerated before because I had run out of the refrigerated ones and they seem to have worked. I just thought they had to be live to really work right.

Happy 4th to you too!

Use both. Refridgerated and non refridgerated. If you take them 3 times a day, just switch off. Personally, I wouldn't take just a time released one and hope it worked. I pop and drink them like candy. I have been on abx since November and never had an issue with yeast or anything. Like I said get the culturel and a different one that goes in the fridge. They can't hurt you by taking too much. Culturel even comes in gluten and dairy free just in case you're a vegan.

I'm new to taking probiotics, my llmd told me to get three different kinds and rotate them. I did ask her the reasoning behind this method - was anyone else told to rotate?

Thank you everyone for all the great information. I will look into getting a non refrigerated one too and I will ask the lady that supplies my supplements to keep ordering the one I already have. I was a little upset that she took it upon herself to "change" something without asking me how I felt.
