I had a femal nurse call me last Thurs.  Should've got her name, but I didn't.  She wanted to set my IV up for 07/06 -TOMORROW!  I said, "No, I discussed this with S at LLDr. C's ofc. and we decided on 07/13."  The nurse said she'd double check and call me back.  She called back, said it was set up for the 13th..... THEN, she wanted to know when my LD was dx'ed.... what my symptoms were CURRENTLY - to which I replied "I have all of them except testicular pain." - which always get them rollin' in the aisles.

Tonight I get a call from a nurse named G.... who was to come out tomorrow and set up my IV..... CHEESE AND RICE!!!!!!!!!!!  Again, I went through the dance again and he said he'd call Dr. C's ofc. tomorrow and make sure everything was set up for the 13th.  THEN, he wanted to know when my LD was dx'ed.... what my symptoms were CURRENTLY - to which I replied "I have all of them except testicular pain." - which always get them rollin' in the aisles.  And then I added, sometimes I want to go to Washington and scream my head off for a cure.  He said he understood.... No he didn't.

I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH LONGER I CAN DO THIS!

And then he started talking about a 'MID-LINE' which can be put in at home.... I do not know what this is..... he asked me if I had my medicine yet (the abx's) "No."  I have my Epipen, my Ambien, and my Flagyl... and my Benedryl.  All the things I was told to get.

I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH LONGER I CAN DO THIS!

Sometimes I want to look at the drs. and the nurses (especially the ones that are all "computerized" now) and say.......

If I could find your web site, determine my dr., find the correct "new patient" paperwork..... print it out and complete it.... and by the way do you have an Epipen? You need to have the following ready; Epipen, benadryl, Flagyl - get all that crap from my pharmacy... fax you back the paperwork... and then call you one day ahead of time to confirm my appt...... (but if I miss the appt. and didn't give you 48 hrs. notice.... I pay a fee).... explain to two "suspicious" nurses over the phone what date, time, etc. this is all supposed to start.....

I WOULDN'T BE DISABLED. I'D BE BACK AT WORK! HOW IN THE HE1L AM I SUPPOSED TO DO ALL THIS IN LESS THAN 2 DAYS OVER A HOLIDAY WEEK-END? DO YOU NOT GET THAT I'M SICK AND WHAT YOU'RE ASKING ME TO DO IS GOING TO PUT ME BACK TO BED AT LEAST FOR A WEEK! AAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

A mid-line is like a PICC but it only goes in a few inches instead of all the way to the heart.

Yes, I understand the whole nurse run-around...it is so frustrating that they make us sick patients do so much legwork, etc. Every time my regular PICC dressing change nurse goes on vacation, I have to jump up and down to the home infusion company to assign another nurse for my dressing changes, even though I've given the home infusion co. plenty of advance notice and my nurse even has tried to get things set up for me before she leaves. It is crazy.

Take care,

I absolutely loved my mid-line.

For me it was much less worry and problems.

And I knew if there was ANY issues, I myself could easily remove the line!

Bummer was getting stuck every 7 days!

Not exactly the same, but apparently labs are in the same category. I found out that why the tick wasn't tested (the last one that bit me) was that the all the lab did was to confirm that it was a deer tick and threw it away! I didn't need anyone to tell me that! By the time they found this out at the Drs. office, it was too late to do anything about it.

Good luck with everything!
