Okay, this symptom doesn't really SCARE me, I just think it's really weird.

Lately, A LOT I have been hearing this "swishing" sensation right in the back of my head. I can't really explain what it sounds like...um...okay lol you know when you're draining the tub and that last little bit of water goes down? It's like a suction sound almost? I have to laugh because every time I get it I just wonder what the hell is going on inside my head.

Probably not the best analogy...ha
Current treatment (began June 10th 2009):
Biaxin 1000mg/day, Pulsing Flagyl 500mg/day 1 Week Every Month

My noises are creaking sounds in my nack and head.

I would bet your swooshing sounds are Lyme related.

Noises in the head and ears is a common Lyme-co-infection symptom.....They come in many forms. I have had ear ringing, buzzing, swishing, clicking and probably more. Mostly they leave with treatment. Some times they come back for a short time.

I can remember before I began treatmnet 2 1/2 years ago while riding in a car I would get strong vibrating whirling sounds in my head like I could feel the tires rolling on the road..........Lyme and it's buddies do strange things to us. Aside from hearing voices I wouldn't be surprised at any sound one might hear while suffering from this demon.
Blessings
Diagnosed 2003 Lyme, Babesia, Bartonella, Micoplasma,Hashimotos Thyroiditis. Have had since early nineties. [/color]

I was hearing swishing noises before I started treatment but once I started on antibiotics the noise became very loud and much more constant. My doc recommended a suppelement, Serrapeptase, which has helped quite a bit but has not eliminated it entirely.

At times I also have a difficult time determining where a sound or noise is coming from. I'll frequently think it's coming from one direction when in fact it's coming from the complete opposite.

Very strange things are happening to us. LOL

Scorpio,

That happens to me also with sounds. I hear something in my home and I'm looking in the direction I think it's coming from but it came from the totally oposite side of my home. It's very weird and just started happening a few months ago.

Sometimes I wonder if we're just so sensitive to what's happening with our bodies that we're really noticing completely normal things!

Haven't seen anything on here in a very long time re: Lyme and noises in your head. I've had Lyme etc since 2001. Back then 3-4 weeks on Doxycycline was the "cure". Now we know so much more. Drugs just arrest the Lyme and co-infections. .... like knocking them down and we think they're dead. Then we become complacent and that's when they rear their ugly heads. The noise in your head is real. Mine started in 2009 and was more of a swishing sound in my ears. I went to an ENT thinking I might have picked up something swimming at the health club. He laughed at me and told me it was "in my head". The noises got worse and it progressed to everything mentioned in the above posts and more. Mostly it sounds like a motor (far away) running inside my head. Things that make it worse: SUGAR, caffeine/chocolate, gluten and dairy. Clean eating like lots of steamed vegetables makes it better. The drugs are a smokescreen. They make you feel better initially but everything and more comes back with a vengeance weeks or months later. I started an all natural treatment 21 months ago. 3 phases: 1. acute...arrest symptoms, 2. months of herbal and homeopathic remedies to weaken the parasites, 3. break through the biofilm and elimination using enzymes and detoxification with infrared saunas, epsom salt baths and glutathione. The longer you have been sick the longer it will take to rid yourself of this ugly disease. Keep trying. Never give up. Rely on yourself NOT on your doctor. ... most of them are uneducated when it comes to Lyme. My treatment has taken longer because I moved across country in the Fall and the added stress didn't help. I finally got back on track in March and I hope to be rid of this hell once and for all by the end of 2018. Let me know if I can help. God bless every one of you. You are all in my prayers.

Hi Sickoflyme2 - welcome.

I believe back in 2001, there were some LLMD's treating lyme longer than 3-4 weeks, but they were most likely few and far between.

I'd like to comment on some of what you said:

"Drugs just arrest lyme and co-infections"

Many people do get better on antibiotic-based treatment.

Re: the swooshing sound in your ears. I also have/had pulsatile tinnitus. It's pretty much gone now.
I didn't have any other sounds though.

That's great you are doing so well with self-treating, but there are good Doctors that treat lyme disease...and can be relied on. That's why it's important to have a Lyme Literate dr. for treatment.

I hope you do meet your goal by the end of 2018...I hope I'm much better then too!
