I read that when people had Syphilis, they treated it with Penicillin. Why don't we do this with Lyme? They are both spirochetes right? Can you use them together? Has anyone tried this? I heard that someone had success with this.

Has anyone here tried it, is there a reason why it doesn't work and docs don't rx it? Am I missing something?

some antibiotics belong to the 'penicillin' family - Amoxicillin is one.

I am doing Bicillin injections ever week with great success. My doctor uses Bicillin to succesfully wean off IV treatments. The shots hurt if not given slowly.

My LLMD said he might consdier giving me a shot of penicillin once per week. Said he could get a higher dose into me, w/o messing up my stomach. I might consider trying this--- sounds good to me!

I think it's because alot of people have allergic reaction to it. I was given something substituted for penicillian when I was in the hospital with a UTI, flu-like symptoms and stiff neck. My doctor thought I had meningitis but it was Lyme all along. I cannot remember the name of the IV antibiotic they substituted though. I was also given Levaquin. Both through IV. I didn't know I had Lyme back then and felt so much better by the third day. I felt like my old self.

The nurse told me that they rarely give penicillian anymore because of the allergic reaction. I'm not sure what's so different in medication similiar to penicillian like Amoxicillian.
I have Lyme Disease; Lyme Disease DOES NOT have ME!

about 28 yrs ago i was given ampicillin and was in a semi-coma for 17 hours. glad i was in the hospital at the time. it not only scared my family but scared the staff there as well. if you have a allergic reaction to penicillin you should always be tested for any of the cousins to it b4 taking them.
still looking for answers.

I treated my 11 mos old with amoxy. She went from not walking to just fine.
I am alergic to penn. So I was screwed and put o doxy which did not work.
My daughter got it again last summer. And again she was put on doxy, she was 40 pound and they gave her a 1,200 dose of amoxy.
She was ill, and it took about 40 days to again...kick it.
She is good now...but is on lots of immune boosters.
And so much vit c.
She does still have arthris. But I can control this somewhat with stress...and rest and good diet. and she can only now drink water. that is it.
No other junk.
And read the book cure unknown and see what the Dr. who named Lyme after himself took when he got lyme while testing it by getting some rabbits urnine in his eye.
He tool penn. and another and got rid of it in 6 weeks
