It is at 106 beats per minute right now and I'm not even doing anything....just sitting here. I do have Hashimotos and was told by my endo that it can do this. I'm curious if anyone else with Hashi's has this too?
I get very lightheaded when this happens and sometimes I feel like I'm going to pass out.

CajunGrl, these all sound like Babesiosis symptoms to me. You have not really treated this yet have you? You should let your Lyme doctor know you are experiencing these symptoms.

Hey ticker,
You don't think it's my thyroid? Do you know what the babesia actually do to cause the fast heartbeat?
I'm about
to switch LLMD's so I'm hoping I finally get treated right. I have neurological issues that need to be dealt with.

Certain foods do that to me. Pretzels for one. English muffins are another. And Pizzaria Uno pizza. Not only does my heart beat fast, but I can feel it skipping beats as well.

Usually HYPER Thyroidism can cause this not sure Hypo does. However before I got treated for Babesia I had this ALOT and during the first weeks of treatment. Not only was it fast but it was pounding in my ears on and off for a few years! Had many cardiac tests which showed heart was fine. Now it is gone and I hope Babsis too.

Hey Minerals,
I have Hashi's so my thyroid levels go up and down. I'm more hypo than anything though. I have noticed that since I started antibiotics(off now), it has gotten worse. I also get the pounding in my ears too. I hate the feeling. I feel lightheaded and sometimes feel like I will pass out.
If I can get in to this new doctor, I will see if he can check my levels again. He is also an internist so he should be
open to it.

Hi CajunGrl,
Sorry to hear you have this symptom. I used to get it, too, and it is one of the worst symptoms to try and tolerate. It feels terrible and it's scary. I think mine is caused by Babesia, but who knows. Before I knew I had lyme and coinfections, I went to "regular" docs and they put me on a beta blocker to regulate my heart rate and blood pressure (I had high blood pressure too). Thank goodness the drug has really helped me. I also think I have low thyroid and do not know how that may be contributing to the heart rate symptoms. I will have to ask the doc again. When I was on meds for babesia, the symptoms were worse even with the beta blocker, so it makes me think my problem is due to the Babesia. I hope your doc is able to help you find some relief. Probably good detox methods would help?
A good friend of mine with lyme/coinfections also gets the heart symptoms from sensitivity/allergic reactions to food or chemicals/smells etc. Maybe you have acquired some allergies you did not have before? Might be worth finding out. See if you can connect the negative heart reaction to something you eat or touch/smell etc.
Best wishes to you.

babylymers,
Thank you for the info. I usually take klonopin if it keeps getting higher or doesn't settle down. It started while I slept. I would wake up with my heart beating out of control. Now, it mostly happens during the day when I'm sitting still. I hate taking klonopin because it makes me so sleepy so I wait a bit to see what happens.
Everyone keeps telling me it may be babesia so I'm assuming that might be what it is. I was diagnosed with babesia and bartonella. I guess these little bugs can do just about
anything to the body.
Hopefully, if I can get in to see this new doctor, he may be able to shed some light on this.
