Has anyone used these online schools & what are your thoughts?

My youngest is still not well enough to go to school. He is starting 5th grade. His insomnia is an issue too.

We tried the tutor from school last year. It didn't work really well for us, for many reasons that I can tell if anyone wants to know.

I can't do the homeschooling with myself being the teacher. Too many cognitive issues myself to commit to that right now.

My son is gifted but he has troubles with memory, concentration, organization and I am sure there are more.

He is about to entire Middle School. They do changing of classes, schedules, lockers, etc. I think that would be too much for him. Plus they start at 7:40am and he sometimes can't sleep until 4am!

So I was looking at this on line schools. The ones that are more flexible with the schedules. Here are a few that I thought might be good. Anyone heard of them?

The 2nd one might be Ohio only. The 1st one has an Ohio website but runs off of the k12 program.

Or does anyone recommend a different one?

Any advice would be helpful! I need to figure out something bc I just know that he won't be able to make it.

Then I need to work on a 504 plan for my older lyme son that is about to start High School. I pray he can make it through! He is going into honors classes & doesn't want to mess up his chance at scholarships for college.

It's very sad that these kids have to be so sick. They are so smart & this might ruin their future. I just want to do what's best & not make a mistake.

Thanks again!

One BIG Lyme family!! Possibly congential...

I have a great friend who homeschools her gifted daughter.  They use Connections Academy.  There is also the Calvert School.  Good luck.

Hi Amy,

I posted in your other thread, but will post again here. Try searching online for parent advocacy groups in your area. They help parents with all this stuff and may prove to be useful to you.

Make sure the online school you use is accredited by the state.

Best wishes. bablymers mom
