I've been reading a lot about Cat's Claw as a herbal supplement for the treatment of Lyme Disease symptoms with some reported good results.

Anyone have any personal experience with the herb? Is it worth a try?

I am taking a small amount of Samento with my Abx. My LLMD is fine with me taking a couple of drops a day, but does not want me to go beyond that dose. He is afraid of "overstimulating" my immune system. I felt like I started to herx when I added it to my Abx. I continue to hear good things about it.

One cannot take just any catsclaw product. There are many out there but the one that works should be pure. I did take this while on modified cowden protocal but it did not work for me. I go tup to 30 drops 2 x day for 3 months..... I had to go back on antibiotics.

I took it before I was diagnosed for tendinitis.  When I was diagnosed I had been taking it for 6 months for the tendinitis.  My CD57 was 76 that was before starting any treatment.  I just had another CD57 done after 6 months of Zhang's protocol and it was 34.  I believe the Cat's Claw was responsible for raising my CD57 the first time (It is known to raise the CD57 score).  I am now on Buhner's protocol which has Cat's Claw as part of the core protocol.

Any suggestions on ensuring a quality purchase on this? Would Whole Foods or GNC, places like that have a good product in anyone's opinion? Also, suggested beginning doses?

+lyme, Stephen Buhner recommends Cat's Claw from Raintree.  You can read more about doses and stuff in his book Healing Lyme.  I got mine from Amazon, but check your library first.  KO

I have heard different things from different studies. Most people say that the Cat's Claw should be TOA free. Others say it doesn't matter. I bought the Nutramedix Samento, since I am only taking a couple of drops a day while on Abx. Good luck.

i too heard that it should be TOA free...i believe allergy research group has it in capsule and liquid form...my article says sensitive people should stay with one capsule or one drop per day for an extended period of time and increase very gradually...but, of course i would check with your llmd first...please let us know how you make out with this as i'm thinking about adding to my husband's regime...he will just love having to take one more pill!!!

I've googled GNC to look at their Cats Claw. It doesn't give much info on it and does not mention that it is TAO free.

Where's a good supplier that isn't going to rob you blind for it?

Try www.vitacost.com. I ordered my Nutramedix Samento and Cumanda from www.renewalenterprises.com. They are cheaper than buying from Nutramedix directly.(Which makes no sense to me.) Good luck.

Thanks Stunned123. I just ordered my Samento from Vitacost. The price was great. I'm hoping it will have some effect on my husbands chronic sinus infection as well as my Lyme symptoms.

I use Nutri Cology Prima una de Gato which is TOA free cat's claw in 375mg capsules. There are 90 capsules which I buy online for about $55 a bottle. I take one capsule four times a day. I quit abx about 5 months ago and am doing very well on just herbs,. I also take 1000 mg of grapefruit seed extract divided into four doses.
For bartonella I take 16 HH capsules. I have muscle pain today but most of the time I am symptom free.

nefferdun, how long were you on abx before you switched to herbs? And may I ask, what are HH capsules?

Thanks.
