good luck. i was just turned down said i wasnt sick enough to do my former job (bartender). and i didnt file under lyme either, i filed under arthritis as it was b4 i knew i had lyme. so not i have to get a SS lawyer and appeal it. you may want to go see a SS lawyer first, i have heard of some who have dont this and got theirs.

i really think its funny, i can do my job,hmm in 1 night i could lose up to 7 lbs running. i cant even walk most of the time. then you have to be able to read in the dark or very low lighting. i cant read in the middle of the day now as everything is blurry. you also have to be on your feet, no breaks for up to 10 hrs a night. i cant stand on my feet for more then 5 mins now. i find this out to be a bad joke on there part.

oh yeah and lets not foreget just opening up bottles or cans. my hands are so bad now i cant use them half the time. i even have a knont on my thumb that feels as tho the bone is going to go thro at any time. ohh yea i am more then able to work. LOL

i do wish you all the best of luck :)

Get a lawyer and expect to get denied at least once or twice. Just keep appealing... you'll win. I was denied twice, then missed my second appeal cutoff date (because I was so sick), then hired a lawyer and was approved. I didn't even have to go to court, the judge just approved it. Hope this helps.

I hate asking this, but must. Can anyone here give me some idea of what one might get from disability? I do not expect for this to ever happen, but w/ everyone's stories, I do worry about it!
Bit 1972: Acute and chronic tonsillitis, UTI, miscarraige, appendicitis, hypoglycemia,  chronic neck pain w/ crushed vertibrae, chronic severe back pain, mitral valve prolapse, depression, resolution?
Bit Mother's Day 2007: Lyme, Babesia microti, hypothyroidism, EBV, HHV6, Parvovirus B19, low adrenals &misc other hormones, depression, anxiety, more of the above.
What don't these nasty bugs cause?
CD57= 60, so we're in pretty good shape.

I got approved on my first attempt back in 1999. I was pretty much bedridden with lyme, but had just lot my job 3 months earlier due to being too sick to work. If you have a good dr. that will explain how sick you are and that you can't work you should be ok, but I know others have not been as lucky as I was.

As for how much you will get. That all depends on your situation. It depends on how long you have worked all your life and put into social security. It depends on if you are married or have dependents. If you are single you can expect less than $1000. Every year it usually goes up as cost of living goes up, but not by much, maybe $20 or so each year. They will tell you and you will get benefits going back from when you applied. It can take up to 6 months to get your first check, but the first one is a big one as it is about 6 months worth of payments.

I wouldn't count on the income as enough to live off of. They don't ever get you that much, but with disability you can get other benefits like food stamps, heating vouchers for free heat during the winter. There are other programs available too once you are approved that will help.

Hope that helps some. Good luck.

I think your SSDI payment is based on your past income and how long you have worked and paid into the system and then maxes at a specific amount.
