Not again,

Does she have a copy of her test results? If so, maybe you can post them here.

Do you know what lab she used?

Iam not sure what lab she used. Or if she has a copy. I dont want to ask her because she feels it is not lyme, and I dont want to push it. I have been on the lupus sit trying to learn more, so I can help her no matter what she has. I know she is taking an anti malareia drug (plaqunel) think i spelled that wromg

I see what you're saying. I don't know much about lupus either. Is it normal to take an anti-malarial drug when you have that?

The people that replied to me on the lupus site said alot of them are on the same med. They said it is used alot to keep lupus at bay. But they dont know why or how it helps.

Very interesting. I may have to read up on that.

I'm hoping someone else has heard of the hands turning the purple/blue color. I've never heard of that with Lyme but we all know that anything is possible.

It sounds like Raynauds syndrome. It can be due to certain medicines or an underlying disease. Maybe contributed to her Lupus.

After I took steroids for my thyroid and my lyme really went crazy which led to a diagnosis after 3+ years, my hands starting turning blue in the shower every morning.  Something to do with change in temperative, Raynaud's syndrome.  So you can definitely get it with lyme.  I have been tested for lupus and do not have it.

My hands use to do this a couple of years ago, but i was not eating anything at the time so I was told it was from that. I wonder.

I guess that's why Lyme is called the great imitator seems to have a bit of every disease known in it.

So why is it taken so lightly by so many doctors !!!

It's called Raynaud's syndrome and is common with people with autoimmune illnesses such as lupus, sclerderma and others. It is also common with lyme. It happens to me on occasion.

If her dog is ever near her then she could get lyme from one of his flees.
Many are pur off as having lupus too.
A normal lab....will not pick up on lyme. And most test come back negative. Falsely so.

Hmm. I did not know that if your dog had lyme you could get it from their flees. Thankyou for that bit of info.

Not again,

It is not a proven fact yet that someone can get Lyme from a flea but it is a possibility. I think that may be how I was infected. I'm still not sure though.

Over the past 3 or 4 years I have gotten bad joint pain. Wrists, ankles, fingers, toes, etc. Sometimes swelling, sometimes not. The pain some times controls my life. I am 28 and feel much older. I've been tested for rheumatoid arthritis & lupus 2 years ago & again this year. Both times tests are negative. This whole thing is making me crazy. This is my main problem. But, I also have had fatigue issuses for over 10 years now. They tested me for sleep apnea, everything was fine. I get sick easily. I have Asthma issues & headaches. I remember getting bit by a tick when I was about 11 or so. 17 years ago? Would that make any sense? Should I push for a Lyme disease test? Do my symptoms seem right?
If any one can offer any help it would be apreciated. -- Thank you!

My PCP diagnosed me with Raynaud's the same year as my Lyme diagnosis and I do believe (at least in my case) it's caused by Lyme.

Lyme tests are only 30% accurate. They shouldn't even be used as they're clearly unreliable. So if your friend is "negative" it truly means nothing, sadly.

Yes I know It means nothing. But she thinks that it is true. She was tested more than once. I tried to explain it to her, but some people just dont understand. It is sad, but I dont want to push it. Why cant people take us seriously!! it makes me mad!! My family thinks she is so sick( cause of Lupus) Then when it comes to me they say its only Lyme. Sorry to vent. it was a bad day.

A friend of mine has had her 'hands & feet ' turning blue'purple - this has been happening for years - she has been told it is 'poor circulation' - never diagnosed with anything

I haven't heard of this with lyme - but obviously if it is new and is happening along with other symptoms - it could well be lyme.
