Sorry to start a thread again. I saw another doctor today who seemed very skeptical I have lyme, even after I showed her pictures of my rash and told her I've been having joint pain in my wrists, knees and ankles. She did not up my antibiotic dosage like I asked. Instead, she gave me a bunch of blood work to see if I do have lyme. The dilemma here is that I am on a new insurance that charges $20 per test. If I do all the tests I've been given, that is $120. The only reason I don't have good health insurance is because I was laid off and am getting it through the state. Obviously, I don't have money to throw around. I am wondering what everyone else's thoughts are on the relevance of these blood tests. Would these be useful if I was only infected in the past 7 to 30 days? I can't afford to pay for worthless tests.

They are:
-lyme tilter (I can't read her writing, looks like tilt or tilter)
-hepatic function panel
-comprehensive metabolic panel w/e GFR
-rheumatoid something (rheumatoid rasch... raschm?)
-CBC w/ diff. (Hgb, Hct, RBC, WBC, Plt, Diff)
-ESR, Westergren

I have insurance, but it's not that great... but the thought of having lyme disease is killing me. I printed out a bunch of info about how lyme should be treated with at least 300mg Doxy and should be treated at the appearance of the rash, whether it's proven to be lyme or not, and the doctors don't listen. They think people don't get lyme where I live, the western part of NYS in Buffalo.

I hope someone else replies, but I would think it might be too soon for Antibodies to show up on the Lyme titer. I would ask for a Western Blot. She has also ordered a Sed Rate and Rheumatoid test. I guess they are trying to rule out any autoimmune causes. The CBC would show how your white and red blood cell counts are, and a liver panel. They are good labs to have if you have not had them drawn in awhile, just so you know your baseline, so to speak. But I would really ask for a WB, and even that this early on, might only show a couple of bands positive. I hope that helps.
Also, what kind of Dr. believes that people do not get Lyme in New York State?  That is insane!

None of the tests look out of the question. Any one of them might show something. I never tested positive for Lyme, but my rheumatoid factor was high for some reason. It's the only reason that my previous doctor would put me on antibiotics (before I started seeing an LLMD).
