I am on doxy with celebrex. The pain in my feet, knees and shoulder are now unbearable. Going to an LLMD is out of the question as I cannot do $700 for the initial and $350 for each follow-up and $1200 in labs. I just don't know what to do anymore.

Hi mom-
I can't do those prices either - that's why I'm studying up on homeopathic tx.

Hang in there!!! Talk to us - tell us all you need to get off of your shoulders. You can email me directly if you really need to talk of just want a

more. Although I have to warn you- I don't know about many abx, but I do understand fully the frustration you are dealing with now!!

Have you asked for any pain meds? As for me, the arthritis meds actually don't help me.

This is such a hard thing to get through sometimes - I DO know that I have to have a "lymie buddy" to get through a lot of this disease.

Hope this helps even just a little!!!

"Dr. Donta reported that in Lyme disease, the nervous system seems to be the primary target for the bacteria causing the disease.  Patients with Lyme disease express many neurologic symptoms such as pain, paresthesias including numbness, tingling, crawling and itching sensations, as well as cognitive difficulties and mood changes.  Even the joint pains and occasional arthritis appear to be neuropathic in origin, as anti-inflammatory agents such as ibuprofen and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) have little if any effect on the pain.  Experimental evidence from animal models also affirm the localization of B. burgdorferi DNA to the nervous system.  Dr. Donta postulates that the disease mechanisms could involve inflammatory responses, autoimmune responses or toxin-associated disruption of neural function.  Any inflammatory responses appear to be weak, and there is no compelling evidence that Lyme disease is a result of immunopathologic mechanisms."

it appears most of the lyme pain is neuropathic, and that explains why all of our mobics, celebrex, or even prednisone(in my case) have made the pain worse instead of better.   I take narcotics, and that alone is the only thing that has helped.  Cymbalta or Savella may help anyone that isn't on any other psychiatric meds.  Unfortunately I can't be on them.

I was considering Savella, but now I'm trying to study up on homeopathic tx - for many different reasons. =) But, right at this

moment, I am on narcotics, otherwise I wouldn't make it right now.

Does a long soak bath with Epsom salts plus hydrogen peroxide in it give you short term relief?  Taking calcium and magnesium supplements (lactate more than oxide) helped me quite a bit with muscle pain, but it took awhile to build up in my system. I hope you find something that works.  Blessings,  Ginnia

Hi, when absolutely nothing else worked to ease my neck/shoulder/head/back pain - I took 'diazepam' [valium] - I don't know if it is known by either of these names in U.S. - I am in U.K. - this is a drug used for 'anxiety and/or muscle spasms' - so it did 'fit the bill' for me - as we all know anxiety is a big factor with lyme but also when we are in a lot of pain - regardless of the cause - anxiety is a part of it .

I found a small 'dose' of 'diazepam' before bed - helped to ease these horrible symptoms. - I only took it when absolutely neccessary.

I am takine Tramadol for pain as well as Ambien. If I sleep soundly enough, the pain doesn't keep me up. I see the doctor today. I hope he has done some research since our last visit.
Thanks

How long have you been on doxy? What is your dosage? Maybe you're not on enough abx to fight the disease.

Hi Gorbybell ~
I have alredy been on Diazapam - it helped greatly when Hubby was in the hospital last Dec., but it didn't help with any pain.

It's really irritating some times with TBi's, as the person who is infected takes such highly individualized tx for each little thing.

I do really appreciate you sharing whatever experiences you have though!! Who knows?? If I keep searching, I'm bound to find what I am looking for!!

Thanks again!! ~

Hey Mom!
I have a current 'scirpt for Tramadol -- 50 mgs. up to 3 x's a day - but it really doesn't help enough for me to keep taking it. I thinkI was on it too long is why.

I've often wondered why not even 1 of the docs that I have seen, have never put me on any actual sleep meds. I don't take things like

Ambien, but I do take 2 anti-depresants with heavy side effects of drowsiness. I guess it's time to find out why!!!

Thank you so very much for sharing yourinfo with me!!!! ~
