Hi,
My mother in law just found out she has LYme disease on top of the cancer she has been battling in various parts of her body.

Are there any LLMDs or other LL practitioners anywhere near there? Even if not near, I'm trying to find the closest one to her.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

I also have Lyme and see a doctor in California. I hope she doesn't have to come all the way here to see a doctor.

Thank you!

ticksick,

Welcome to the forum! I am so terribly sorry that you and your mother-in-law have to deal with this. I'm so glad you found us though! I have some info for you that might help.

You can  email one of our long time members, Ticker at:
ko_@bellsouth.net to find an LLMD in your area. If you'd like more suggestions, you can email: stephanie@turnthecorner.orgYou can also go to: www.turnthecorner.org/bod.htm and ask for further suggestions and also get some information about Lyme Disease.

ILADS is also a great site to find information and learn even more about Lyme Disease and the correct dosages for antibiotics, etc.

For even more info, please read the topic at the top of the first page of this forum tittled, "The Basics, Newbies check this out". It will help you get started learning about lyme.

oops, the reply alert went to my spam box and I just came across it. anyway...

thank you so much for responding! I will contact Ticker for more info.

Just to brief you on my own situation... I was bit by a tick in mid 80's at age 13 or 14 and have been a mystery patient ever since. Never even thought of Lyme, nor did any doctor I saw. Researching chronic pelvic pain led me to look into the possibility of Lyme in 2006 or '07. I was on a LLMD's waiting list for 19 months and finally in January '09 got in to see her associate, an LLND, who is awesome. I've done a lot of research over the last few years and I hope I can help my mo-in-law out so she doesn't have to prolong things as long as I did.

I'm sure my long story is similar to many others here... doctors not believeing you, sending you to psychiatrists, family not believing you, bouncing from doctor to doctor, etc. Pretty much the typical story of the long suffering.
What a long and horrific battle it has been.

I love your quote **You never know how STRONG you are....until being STRONG is the ONLY choice you have**

Boy is that the truth!!! :)

Hope it's okay to use that one? :)

Thank you so much!

ticksick,

Sure thing! You're definitely welcome to use the quote. It's not mine to begin with. Thanks for posting your story. You're right, it seems we've all been bounced from doctor to doctor. I hope you can find a great and understanding LLMD for your MIL.

You may email me (click the envelope below my name to the left) and we can discuss a trusted and trained ILAD referral within an hour of your Mom's home.
