Lyme,

I just wanted to add that finding might be right on about your situation. I had erosion in my esophagus and it would bug me a little when I swallowed. I completely forgot about that. But, in the same breath, since your doctor thought he felt a lump, you may want to do that test for antibodies to see if you might have Hashi's. Your thyroid can swell up and then get back to normal when you have Hashi's.

Finding - I am glad you are doing better. GERD can hurt a lot but it doesn't cause heart palpitations. Your post reminds me of something, though. I had similar pain to yours, with sore throat. I had an endoscopy and all they found was inflammation. This is what tests for all softs of problems I've had find. Your pain could be from GERD or it could be the Lyme inflammation. I agree Co Q10 is great stuff. Until I am finished with the Mepron I can't take it anymore. I'm still trying to figure out how to get garlic in me. I know it is good for me. As far as my heart is concerned, it is only one of many things I've had checked out a lot. I've had Lyme et. al. for a long time, undiagnosed, and it's worked its way through me and simultaneously I've worked my way through the medical specialists looking for an answer to my ever-increasing list of medical problems. Sad but true. At this point I'm pretty disgusted with most of the medical profession. They've let me down. Sorry to sound so cynical but I think today is a Lyme Rage day.

Take care,

Rose

Hey Rose,

FYI- If acid gets high enough in the esophagus, it CAN cause heart palpitaions and tachycardia, which is a fast heartbeat.

Heart Palpitaions are also a symptom of Lyme Disease.

very interesting ladies....still have the sore throat so i know something in my throat is irritated- i think cajungirl i have too much acid or too little- and yes i have heard it can cause heart palpatations- i think my sister told me to try papaya capsules or the real thing or aloe vera juice- as this helps heal the esophogus. rose, if you cannot swallow garlic capsules then maybe you could try baking the garlic- my sister says this helps retain the nutrients- and it will make it soft enough to chew down- you could also just cook it into your food and still recieve benefits- the humaworm rep i talk to recommends boiling it in water for infants who have parasites- garlic is naturally anti-parasitic along with many other things like onion, thyme, cloves, ginger, pineapple, cinnamon, pumpkin seeds...which even if you don't have a parasite problem- they are all very good for you.

CajunGirl - Thanks for the info. I'm learning more about physiology than I ever thought I would. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that none of the many doctors I've seen over the years put together the possibility that the GERD and irregular heartbeat could be associated since none of them figured out the Lyme connection either. Not being in the medical field I can't imagine the process of acid in the esophagus causing cardiac symptoms; I'm more in the "legbone is connected to the thighbone" league when it comes to anatomy. But that's another interesting factoid for me to add to my list.

Finding - I just had roasted garlic spinich. Yummy. It's good to know that the medicinal value of garlic does not dissipate when it is cooked.

Good for you Rose! Yes- using your oven as oppose to frying is supposed to help keep the nutrients more intact! Didn't know that myself until my sister told me. She is studying to one day be a naturopath. I see you have a signature now! Gee i guess i should get me one! How did you do that?

Finding - I was digging around the website and pushed the help button - lots of good information there. I found the area for editing your page. What I can't figure out is how to subscribe to threads. Maybe that is disabled until you reach a certain status on the boards. Everything else was a hyperlink but that. Enjoy!

Traveler - now I have garlic breath.

Just a quick bit of info. I had horrible feeling of lump in throat - woke in the night  feeling like I was going to suffocate - it turned out to be 'acid reflux' even though I didn't get much in the way of burning.  the drug - Omeprazole - sorted it out.
