Just wondered if anyone was using this? My LLMD says there is published proof that this med to lower cholesterol binds with the neuro toxins in the bloodstream and removes them.

I have felt better after using this for a few weeks. The only thing I found was that the drug store substituted Prevalite due to insurance coverage and it has aspartame. My bladder started burning within two days and I knew aspartame was the culprit. He switched me to Cholestrymine and bladder cleared up. The sweetener is sucrose in that one. Questran is priced at $90/mo., no insurance coverage, so that one was OUT!

Hope someone can use this info.

California sun,
I am on cholestyramine for the 2nd time. The 1st time, I noticed that it had sugar in it, and got a perscription for the product alone from a compounding pharmacy. It really made a huge difference in my progress. I doubt if insurance covered that.
Lately, I suddenly noticed my stomach was collecting fat at a quick rate, and my MD told me to start the cholestyramine again. I did, and it wasn't helping as much. Then I noticed the compounding product, and realized I was taking the sugar variety again! I changed over to the straight product, but I haven't been able to kick the sugar habit, so it's been slow going losing the flab that gathered in my middle--it got to about 75% gone, and has stayed there. I haven't been that bad with my eating, so I wonder if I need to have metal chelation again, or something.
If you do end up with the straight product, the thing to do is to mix it and drink it as quickly as possible. The longer it sits, the more powerfully it sticks to every surface. I only have to follow up with one glass of clear water, and when I let it sit, I have to work at getting my mouth, etc clear with several glasses of water--no fun!
1978: Got the "flu that never goes away" later diagnosed as CFS. (Slept a lot, no energy, gradually got better)
1986: Had a serious relapse, insomnia set in, later diagnosed as FM with tender points. (Some pain and stiffness, but the sleep disorder top problem)
2007: Diagnosed with Lyme disease.

Hi. I'm curious, is this stuff used for cleansing or treatment?

I have Lyme; it doesn't have me.

I hope you don't mind me answering your questions. Cholestyramine is actually used to lower cholesterol but they figured out that it also bindes to toxins and helps remove the toxins from the body. So, I guess you could say that it is used to cleanse because it helps in the removal of toxins.

You need a prescription for it.

i was placed on trilipx for 6 months to try to lower my cholesterol, and i had no trouble useing it. not 1 side efect from it, but it did not lower it at all. matter of fact it went up even. so i am now on a new med thats made from omega3 called lovaza. i will be retested in 3 months to see if it works.
still looking for answers.

I take Questran Lite every day - 1 packet. I just started taking it 2 months ago after being on antibiotics since Feb. I was feeling a lot of my neuro symptoms and just felt crappy and my sleep problems were creeping back. My Dr said it was probably due to my toxin build up and Questran will bind the neurotoxins. I think it has helped. My sleep is better and a lot of the neuro symptoms have seemed to get better but I still feel the fine motor shakiness and the cold sweat feeling. about 2 weeks ago I didn't take it one day and I can tell you I felt like doodoo the next day. I was sure to take it that day since that was the only thing I did different and the next day I felt better again. I don't know if it was a fluke, but I'm not going to forget again :).

I also have to do epsom/peroxide soaks every 2-3 days or I feel really bad. I can't believe how much of a difference they make.
