Ok, girls, I don't know what to do. I am on the candida diet and have been for 25 days now. I take diflucan every single day and I use monistat almost every night, and I STILL have a yeast infection. What else can I possibly do? Any ideas. This really sucks.
Oh, and i did a whole body cleanse as well. Should I do a yeast cleanse?
Thanks smilewinkgrin

are you taking probiotics and are you currently seeing a dr?

when I started abx, my dr put me on nystatin and the only time I had trouble with yeast was when I started pushing 2 (instead of 1) ceftriaxone daily, then he prescribed diflucan, which knocked it right out

I take probiotics every day, will get the picc out soon and have stopped the cetriaxone and am currently on doxy, septra, and avalox...continuing nystatin and a host of other supplements

a naturopath may also be able to help you

I have had good results from various herbal yeast cleanse herbal remedies. I found taking a fistful of probiotics in the day wasn't enough, so when I get up in the night I take another handful. And a sea salt bath can really help heal, cure and prevent. Make sure the salt water gets everywhere! Now that is tmi!

Are you taking a good probiotic? I didnt even know you could take fistfuls? I have a intense yeast cleanse for you. It's 2 months long. Don't worry its not all juice or anything. And it's not some guy trying to sell anything. You can get the supplements at any vitamin store.

I can give you the link and after you read up on it, I can spell it out for you in simple terms. I did it and it was amazing. My doc thinks it's actually caused me to herx and brought the Lyme out. Anyhoo... I'll give you the link, but I definitley think you should talk it over with your doc before starting it.

Biotin keeps the yeast out of the spore form so that anti-yeast treatments can work more effectively.
Garlic - a raw clove, placed "up there" may be helpful
Can also use a probiotic capsule or a bit of yogurt "up there" as well

Also, "If one partner has a yeast infection, the other partner should also be treated for it. A man is less likely than a woman to be aware of having a yeast infection because he may not have any symptoms." - according to http://womenshealth.about.com/cs/yeastinfections/a/getridofyeastin_2.htm

Thanks everyone. Don't worry Razzle there is no partner!lol.
I am taking probiotics. They are a kind that you have to refrigerate with 5 or 8billion live cultures. I can't remember. I was on amox 1000mg four times a day and now clarythromyacin only once per day. I was feeling worse on amox but doc said that within the 30 days I was on it I should have gotten better if it was working? Is that true? This one is doing nothing at all. Well, it does make me nauseas but that's it.
Jenn, I am going to look into that link and see what that is all about. My dr does not like it when I mention anything homeopathic. I told him that I was doing the detox baths and he looked at me like I was crazy and rolled his eyes. So, if I ask him about that cleanse he will prob say it is bs and not really answer my questions. But, my nurse practioner could tell me:) I will check that out now and let you know!
I am also going to try the sea salt bath and see what happens. If those don't work, I will have to resort to "up there" hahaha

A&S,

I take biotin every day. Also, in addition to taking a probiotic, I take the prebiotic inulin. It helps make the intestines a better environment for probiotics, and also helps with calcium and magnesium absorption. In the past I've had a terrible time with yeast overgrowth, so when I was diagnosed with Lyme and coinfections in September and found out I'd be taking antibiotics over a long period of time, I was concerned. But, so far, being careful about diet, and taking these supplements, I'm doing okay.

My daughter has used the garlic suppository mentioned in another post, and found it helpful. She also used a mixture of apple cider vinegar and water as a topical treatment vaginally and said it helped her.

Good luck, hope you are feeling better soon. Rose
I have Lyme; it doesn't have me.

I also read you can do apple cider vinegar baths. A&S - you can get the organic.. with the mother.. Apple Cider Vinegar the same place you get the other supplements for the yeast protocol.

Here is what I read about the ACV detox bath. I'm going to try it tomorrow....

This is a quick way of restoring the acid-alkaline balance. 1 cup to 2 quarts of 100% apple cider vinegar to a bathtub of warm water. Soak 40 to 45 minutes. This is excellent for excess uric acid in the body and especially for the joints, arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, and gout.

You girls are so helpful:) Thank you so very much. I will try the apple cider bath as well and will look into biotin and prebiotic inulin. I wish my doctors would listen to the herbal treatments and even suggest them. Obviously the drugs aren't working, so why look down on me for trying something natural.Grrrr.

I did the Apple Cider Vinegar bath today. It started working right away. I was cold in the tub, although the water was warm and my back pain went away. It also caused me to sweat for the next few hours, which apparently is normal. I think I am going to alternate days doing the epsom salts and ACV.

Good! I am going to try to remember to do that tomorrow. I should do it right now, but I would probably pass out in the tub:) It is one of those days.
