I have been on 200 mg doxcy along with vitamins and supplements since June 09, some of my symptoms had dissipated, while other symptoms seem to linger.   However, lately it seems like a lot of the old symptoms have returned.  I'm worried that the doxcy is no longer helping.
Can the lyme get immune to the antibiotics?  I feel scared that I'm going to end up bed ridden - since majority of my symptoms are nuerological.  I have an appointment with my Lyme doctor next week - I want the doc to change my medication if this is the case.
I have tried Cipro, but it makes me feel short of breath, so this is not an option for me.  What other antibiotics work for Lyme?
Tired of feeling sick:(

The antibiotics stopped working for me around Jan or so last year. By March I was in real bad shape. I honestly would have rather have been dead. And I was going downhill so fast I thought I really would be. I took a different route and tried the Zhang herbs and I feel the best I have felt since this whole Lyme thing started. Plus there are none of the side effects as with antibiotics.

Hi 3whiteroses,
Yes, research shows that people start resisting antibiotics after they have been on them for awhile.  Some try different antibiotics, I don't know if that really works.
I would look into alternative treatments as well as putting yourself on a strict detox regime.
Hope that helps,

I'm not sure what Zhangs protocol is, but I plan on checking it out.  I do detox and I'm eating healthy - also working out 3x per week.  My Lyme doctor took me off of milk products because it causes inflamation.  She also told me to exercise if possible that it was good for my immune system.  I have made a lot of effort to exercise.
I feel so sick and I feel frustrated.

Usually when one antibiotic stops working, your doctor will bump you up to something else or prescribe a combination or add a supplement. Then you'll feel worse for a while and then a lot better. Here's to feeling better!

It seems to me that we need to change up our treatment every few months or the lyme gets away again.  It can be as simple as adding vitamins or herbs or switching abx combos or adding detox or sauna.
