I just got doing 6 weeks of IVs.  I felt great.....but my insurance was 'investigating' and I was basiscally told that continuing would be very risky (in terms of getting stuck with huge bill).   In the 5 days since coming off the IV I have  crashed!!!  I want to go back on.   I don't have much money (unfortunately infectious disease PhDs don't make what MDs do).   What should I do?  I really want to go back on the IV.  How are you folks getting these meds?  How are you paying for them?

I started with Rocephin (4 weeks) and then switched to Doxy (2-3 weeks).

You can get generic Rocephin for alot cheaper. I think I saved a link to a pharmacy that sells everything you need including the antibiotics(with a perscription) in the "New to Lyme?.....Start Here!" thread.

Have you sent an appeal to your insurance company yet?

CG,

I've been told it is not very wise to fight with the insurance co with regard to IVs. I'm told this could lead to a further investigation having the insurance co (in my case Anthem) require you to see an ID MD who could say that you don't have lyme (which could cause problems getting oral meds). Do you think this is accurate? Is it worth the fight?

CG or others,

I'm a bit surprised that the meds on infuservamerica are so cheap (well not cheap but cheaper than I expected). Were you or others able to arrange a discount with home health care companies to do dressing changes, etc.?
