It consists of two 1 tablespoon doses of Epson Salts in the afternoon and early evening, and at bedtime a concoction of 1/2 cup of olive oil, grapfruit, and lemon juice.

I ran this liver flush protocol 2 days ago and experienced a very noticeable Herx-like reaction. If a "10" is the most dreadful Herx I've ever experienced, this was a "5" for sure. As this protocol is supposed to reduce your toxin load pretty quickly, this shouldn't have happened. It would seem my liver did indeed release quite a lot of toxins, but that much of it must have been reabsorbed through my intestine back into my bloodstream, given the moderate feelings of Herx I had at 8am.

Wondering if anyone else has run this protocol, and if so, what was your experience?

Sulma,

Do you mix everything together and drink it? Do you add water to it? And, is 1/2 cup for grapefruit juice and lemon juice too? What kind of grapefruit juice do you get? Sorry for all of the questions but I really need to try one of these detoxes.

1/2 cup is just the cold pressed extra virgin olive oil. To that you add the juice of one grapefruit and one lemon. The recipe didn't specify any particular type of grapefruit. No, theres no added water. Just the OO, and the juices.

It clearly provokes a substantial toxin release from the liver, but I apparently reabsorbed most (if not all) of it before I evacuated as evidenced by the Herx-like episode.

I think the problem was the liquid stool was ready to come out long before I woke up and it sat in my bowel for a few hours at least where I reabsorbed a lot of the toxins. (when I got up at 8am there was a LOT ready to go)

You are supposed to do the olive oil mixture (which is the part that triggers the bile release) right at bedtime so that just about the time you wake up, the release is just then entering the colon. I guess the idea is you run to the toilet so quickly all morning and afternoon long that there's no opportunity for that reabsorption.

Thank you for explaining. It seems like a safe detox. I have elevated liver enzymes and I think it's because my liver is congested with toxins since I herx so easily on antibiotics, even on a low dose. I'm going to wait to do this when my husband is off just in case I need him, lol.

Your explaination of having a herx made alot of sense. Did you have any other symptoms?

What you said about easily Herxing these days is consistent with my status now too. I can run the same cycle now for 6 days that 18 months ago I could manage for as long as 21 days w/o having to take a treatment break. Definitely agree that as our livers "fill up" and can no longer clean our blood very effectively anymore, we experience Herx symptoms more readily.

No, no other symptoms really apart from my own unique Herx symptoms. Hopefully we'll get anecdotes from at least one or two people who've run this protocol exactly by the numbers and see what outcome they had.
