Hi, I just started taking Glucosamine and I think it's what has been causing my nausea.  For those that have tried it have you had any GI upset?  Did you think it helped you?

Thanks, KO

I forget what glucosimine is for? I know I have bought a few bottes in last 15 yrs but stil don't know why.

I once did accupunture every week for a year and it brought my adrenals back to life. that was about 11 yrs ago.

I wish I could afford all that stuff again. I am strung out on prednisone because of one doctor giving me cortisone. and it snow balled from there becasue it flares up the lyme. So you KNOW you have lyme.

but maybe after a certian point our adrenals are so far gone ,lyme or no lyme we need it. but i would ask you llmd

I took it for a while and started to gag on the taste (greasy fishy flavor - ick!) so stopped taking it...

I also don't feel like it helped my joints any while I was taking it, but that may be due to malabsorption (from Lyme-related small bowel inflammation & dysmotility).

Just an update, I don't think it's the Glucosamine causing the nausea because I didn't take it this today and still had the nausea wash over me this morning.  No I am not pregnant.

Hi KO-LD,

I tried it for some months, but it was always mixed with MSM or chondroitin. Then I decided to try it by itself. I did not seem to get much benefit from it but others have said they like it. I actually notice improvements in joint pain more from the MSM or omega-3 oils than I do from the glucosamine. It seems like I read somewhere that if you take it for 6 weeks and don't see any improvement, then you probably won't see any-----but I can't remember at what dosage that would be true! Sorry. I hope it does help you.
I do not remember having any nausea from it.

Best wishes, bablymers mom

I know someone who took glucosamine with chondroitin in it and it would make him sick.

When I took the kind with chondroitin, it actually made my joints ache.

So I'm taking glucosamine sulfate. I've gone without it sometimes for a couple of weeks and I'll get achier and then improve when I'm back on it.

I think you need 500 mg a day.

I have been taking glucosomine with msn for a long time.. and I think it helps my joints. There are vegetarian ones too.. I know they have them at Whole Foods (cuz I work there :-)) and they aren't that expensive.. cheap vitamins will not have the best ingredients.. and can contain artificial ingredients.. even though you would hope they wouldn't because they are vitamins.. but some do! My dad SWEARS by it He hurt his hip years ago from being a firefighter.. and he swears by it... he was to the point of voodoo or witch craft to get rid of the pain and it worked!! (he as kidding by the voodoo and witchcraft. but that's how desparate he was!)
