Yes I know that other lab tests are expensive but insurance pays a percentage on them.  If IgeneX isn't approved by the CDC then how are they able to do the testing and is the testing accurate?  who really moderates what they are doing?  I've worked in the medical field for 17 years and this is suspicious to me.  There really isn't a lot of info about them on their website either.    When I first heard of them I just thought...hey great my blood can be sent to them but then I find out that they do not take insurance and then expect out of pocket amounts of $400-$900....good grief!  outrageous!   I sure hope the LLMD you see take your insurance.  if not, then I would be suspicious of them too.  Sorry,  I just dont like it when people are taking for money when supposedly they are trying to be helped.

Star,

You don't have to use Igenex. You can use another lab that your insurance covers and see your regular doctor. The treatment protocol is 14-28 days and usually 200mg of Doxycycline a day. Try it and see if you feel better at the end of the month.

If you want to know more about what's going on with the controversy with the CDC....They had to go to a hearing last year in August(?) because of their "great treatment protocol.". Look it up. Do some research. You need to get yourself educated because if you've had this for a while, this may be a long road for you.

There was also an explaination about the different labs that was posted by Deejavu. In the end, it's your own choice. You can also go to a different forum and ask these same questions and see what you're answer will be:)
