Anybody have any issues like that.  I'm being treated for Lyme just over three years, mis-diagnosed for two years.

I know it sounds strange but it is almost uncontrollable.

Last night I ate half a pound of raisins just so I could go back to sleep.

Taking Biaxxin, plaquenil, spectracef, celebrex, neurontin, metanx, milk thistle,Welchol and other vitamins and nutrients. I take restoril to help me sleep. I know Lyme makes us crave carbs but this is a recent development.

Craving sweets is often a sign of candida overgrowth. The candida thrives on carbs and sugars and somehow they make their wish known to be fed.

I have a friend who does this. She wakes up nightly to eat sweets. She does not have any illness but she does have depression.

When the serotonin drops, the bodies natural response is to crave anything to up the serotonin. Sugar boosts serotonin.

B vitamin deficiency also can cause sugar cravings.

As I research my cravings issue it is mentioned a lot about B vitamin deficiency. I am taking Metanx. My LLMD prescribed it for my neuropathy issues. It does help with the neuropathy. My craving of sugar started around the same time I started Metanx so I have to see if it is a side effect.

Metanx is usually prescribed for Diabertic neuropathy. I have never had any diabetic issues. Just wanted to mention that because don't think the sugar craving is a diabetes issue.

Thanks for your reply.

Something else to be aware of is that many B vitamins are derived from and/or contain a form of yeast. If mold/candida is an issue for you, then it would be good to get a yeast-free version of B vitamins.

Also, you may need other B vitamins besides what is contained in the Metanx (which contains only Folic Acid, B6, and B12). There are also B1 (Thiamine), B2 (Riboflavin), B3 (Niacin), B5 (Pantothenic Acid), Biotin, and possibly other supplements that are also required for optimum health. Blood sugar levels may also be unstable without supplementing Chromium. Alpha Lipoic Acid can also help stabilize blood sugar. A stable blood sugar level can reduce/prevent sugar cravings.

Ambien eh? Yes I've taken it in the past. I now take Restoril prescribed by my LLMD so I didn't get dependent on Ambien. I've got to sleep so I have the strength to deal with Lyme issues.

I Ordered something online that is supposed to stimulate Serotonin. I will share the name once I get it and if it works.

Lyme can cause hypoglycemia because of the pains and digestion problems.
