Can sore teeth be a symptom of Lyme?

Hi Monica, I'm certain LD can affect your teeth and gums, I haven't experience this myself but have read about others who have. What the problems are I can not help you with, but I'm sure other members here will have experienced some similar problems with their teeth and will enlighten you on what symptoms to watch out for.

Yes, especially if the dentist can't find anything wrong. I've had this happen a few times...go to the dentist, only to have them tell me there was nothing they could see that could cause the problem. I've used clove oil on the sore tooth (usually a different tooth every time) and it really helps (after an initial burning sensation).

Cheers,

Wow, I actually came on here today to post about my teeth and saw your post. I have had sore teeth for a few days and now have a sore that looks like a boil on the top of one on the gum area. Fun. What kind of symptoms are you having? My whole mouth aches at times and hurts to bite down. Then it goes away, as quicklly as it somes. Yes, I do believe its the Lyme and bacteria causing it. I have had a few teeth absess as well (kind of afraid that is what is going on now) and after failed root canals, had them extracted.   D

Absolutely.  I went thru bizarre mysterious tooth and gum pain for years and still do but now know it is just a lyme flare.

TMJ and tooth pain I get are two different things, but I know Lyme can cause both.

Before Amox, my whole mouth, teeth and all was sore, ached, and throbbed. I lost a tooth for no apparant reason. My dentist was aware that Lyme can cause a lot of dental problems.

Co-Q10 is good for inflammed gums. I have TMJ also. Or just one sided jaw pain every once in a while.

I've had bizarre tooth problems for about 7 years now...of course unexplained super-sensitivity in one particular tooth. Got a root canal 5 years ago and it STILL bothers me at times. Wondered at the time all my other problems started if it was somehow all related...now after reading all of the your above posts makes me wonder even more if it's Lyme related.

I never post things just do research mainly, I have lyme and it was discovered after having every tooth crowned in my mouth for years of tmj suffering. The dentist was right , he did get rid of the popping and clicking but tooth and jaw pain was unreal and then I became sooo fatigued. I became diagnosed with lyme disease after the work was done.. it explained my life but was a shock. I did a year in a half of antibiotics and now I am back sliding sooo went to the doctor and we are now rebuilding my immune system to handle antibiotics. I am on 10,000 units of vitamin d and it has made me herx horribly. now I have incredible tooth pain and in teeth that have had root canals. and my jaw is burning. I was researching the web to see if there was an association between vitamins and tooth pain and came across this. Now I just know I am in lyme herx. thank you all for posting your thoughts as it will save me money I don't have and stress I need to let go. I hope it goes away soon and the best of luck to all my lymey friends.

I had shooting pains in my teeth-- sometimes upper teeth, sometimes bottom or just one side -- but never one tooth at a time. Pain was similar to tin foil hitting a filling. Not extreme pain just really annoying!

It lasted for months off and on. Was worse when laying down or when driving the car for some weird reason. .

Seems to be completely gone now after six months on ABX.

Had my teeth cleaned not too long ago and was scared it would stirr something up but it didn't. Dentist said my teeth are in great shape, so this pain was for sure Lyme related for me.

I had tooth pain, also.  It would wake me up in the middle of the night.  Very devastating to me because I'm 58 years old and have never had a cavity.  Found a dentist in California who said he could get the lyme out of the teeth by using a homeopathic remedy.  Very nice and caring person.  Here is his link http://www.drlanderman.com/Staff.html

For the most part his treatment worked.  Every once in a while I still get a little bit of pain but it is usually after I drank or ate something sweet.

knuks, can you tell me more about the homeopathic treatment? What was it called, how long did it take to work, and any herxes?I have teeth and jaw pain that started with dental work and continues to bother me over a month later.

thanks

diaba, the dentist made plastic molds of my teeth.  He tested my teeth to see which ones were compromised.  He told me that most people who have lyme in their teeth have problems with the same eight teeth...in other words, lyme usually goes to the same eight teeth in everyone.  He sent me home with a syringe of homepathic remedy.  A drop of this remedy had to be put into the mold and worn 1 hour a day. I had to go back to him in two weeks.  The first syringe did not work.  He then sent me home with two more syringes...they worked.  No herxing.  The pain simply subsided.

I have had pain in my teeth where I no longer even have teeth.

my friend had 4 teeth pulled this year and her twin sister also. (interesting)

they both have periodontal disease. the dentist said she had spirochetes in her gums.

she has never been diagnosed with lyme but she leads an impeccably clean life and eats mostly what she grows. does yoga for 35 yrs. is vegetarian.

Thanks for the info, sounds interesting and i live near where he practices. But haven't been able to tolerate any treatment for lyme so wonder if I'd have to get some of it under control before treating the teeth/jaw specifically.

Bartonella especially will EAT AND DESTROY your teeth! I've seen it in my 4 year old. 10 cavities is CRAZY. I mentioned to the Dentist about Bartonella...he said huh? I was getting so aggravated after 6 months of constant pain and dentist appointments for my son I knew I had to figure out something!!

Here son, swish with this. I handed him over Colloidal Silver. Within just 2 times of swishing with CS Colloidal Silver his teeth stopped decaying!!

My daughter and I are taking silver for our Lyme infection, so I'm hoping it will resolve her gum problems too.

Just came across this thread. I've noticed that the enamel on two of my teeth is wearing away and wondering if this could be Lyme related and if so, how to best address it.

I've experienced the on-again/off-again dental pain though not in the same area of my mouth. I am taking an herbal route and not currently on antibiotics.

Would love to hear your suggestions.

Thanks so much.
