Hi everyone, i haven't posted in quite a while, but i had some questions i hoped someone might be able to answer; i sure would appreciate it.

I've done about 2 months of abx (doxycycline and zithromax) and came off to treat candida issues- during this time my CD 57 has dropped from 153 to 105 and my white blood count has dropped to 1 point below normal on my cbc and is right on the line (4.0) on my CD 57 panel.  I'm a little discouraged about this and was wondering if anyone else has had white blood count problems? is this a result of the lyme or from being on abx? Thank you for your help!

I've had low WBC counts for years. Doxycycline has brought it up into the normal range for the first time since 2005...

Lyme can reduce WBC, so can abx, and so can Ehrlichia/Anaplasma coinfection. I don't know if anything else besides Lyme can reduce CD57, though.

Good luck,

Finding, from everything I've read about the CD57, it is used to track progress in healing Lyme,so I guess you should ask your Dr about that, if it is dropping.  It should be pretty accurate.

I have no idea if it is something that can vary from day to day or if there are other things it can depend on, so I guess, ask the Dr about that too.  If this CD57 'score' is solid, then that would seem a little discouraging, but maybe, just maybe, as w/ other symtoms, maybe it has to get worse before it gets better.

I do not understand the white blood count issues. Some people's are high, because of the active infection, and some are low and I don't understand why, unless it is something else causing it.  Because infection causes high WBC

Brilliant big help, huh?

Chronic infection can cause low WBC...this is a little-known/understood fact amongst most MD's. I've researched immune stuff quite a bit because of my own terribly low WBC/lymphocyte counts. I've managed to baffle local immunologists about this whole thing...until I started researching Lyme, it didn't make any sense to me either.

Thank you both very much :). and yes, it's all very confusing. I think i remember i came back positive for anaplasma which could explain it- or it was the abx. I guess i'm more concerned about the wbc than the CD 57, i keep hearing tons of different things on the CD 57 and its frustrating. Anyway So far i only have completed around 2 months of treatment with doxycycline and zithromax and my numbers were higher before this treatment! arrr.

Yes Razzle you should write a book- i would read it. :) I've appreciated reading much of your advice on here in the past. I'm sorry i havent been on here more often but attempting to hold up motherly duties to 2 has taken a lot of my free time. Do you mind telling me what dosage of doxycycline you are doing and for how long? I'm wondering if i just should have stuck with it longer... i was on 200 mg and then 400 (but not very long at 400- maybe a week because i was herxing terribly so went down to 300 mg.)

sorry, one more question i just remembered! Do you happen to know any naturals/herbs that target Anaplasma if i don't do doxycyline again? Just though i'd ask as i haven't researched this yet. Thanks :)

I was on doxy for one month and then in March had the CD-57 test. It was only 19!!! YIKES
THen I relapsed big-time last month. Doing the alternative protocol now and will have this
tested again to see if that number goes up. They say they want to see if above 60.
