I am on mepron for babesia. Clarithromycin was added 2 weeks after the start of mepro, but I started getting terrible palpitations, so am off that for now. I have a rash and muscles are hurting. I read the detox section here and will try some of those. My questions are, has anyone successfully been treated with mepron alone? And is it normal for mepron to cause a rash and make your muscle hurt and feel stiff? I am recently diagnosed so this is all new to me. I am so happy to find this site. Thanks for any replies!

Hi Shonks,

Welcome to the forum!!

Mepron made me really tired and I felt like I had the flu. I was also achy all over.

Usually, an antibiotic is used in combination with Mepron to eradicate Babesia. You can take Zithromax with Mepron.

Thanks for the reply! My muscles are hurting and cramping, I almost feel like the mepron is interfering with my thyroid meds. Did you continue with the mepron or did you switch to something else, if you don't mind me asking? Also did you get a rash on the mepron?

Thanks,

My doctor put me on Malarone for my babs. I heard that its not as hard on you as the meprone. I did well with it. : ) Ask about it..

Were you on just the Malarone alone or in combination with something else? I surely will ask about the it, cause I'm starting to feel like I've been hit by a truck!

Thanks,

Shonks,

No, I didn't continue the Mepron because my new LLMD didn't think I had Babesia. It was a clinical diagnosis. And no, I don't remember a rash. You could be herxing too, from all of the achiness that you are experiencing. A good detox bath would probably help.

Thanks, I'll try it. A bath at this point sounds wonderful!

Yeah, it looks like paint the kindergarten children use! I'm on my second bottle and I can barely stand the taste of it anymore.

shonks5 Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner..
I was on Malarone and Bactrim, it got me very far in my recovery. then he switched the Bactrim for Cedax along with the Malarone, and that got me even further. Now I am taking Flagyl alone.ask your doctor about these combos and see what he thinks about them. Good luck to you ..

Hi Shonks, I was on Mepron, Azythromycin and the supplement Artemisinin. I believe there are some who only take the Artemisinin. My doc had me take it continously but I've read that it is better to pulse.....need to ask him about this at my next appt. Good luck!

I'm going to ask about the Artemisinin. If I can't take Biaxin or Zithromycin (because of heart palpitations) I feel like I should be taking something in addition to the mepron, like everyone else. I don't want to be taking it by itself if it's not going to get rid of the babesia. It seems like a waste of treatment. Is the Artemisinin something I could get and take myself?

Be very careful with the Artemisinin. It can be very hard on the liver. You may want your doctor to monitor your liver enzymes if you decide to take it.

Artemesinin can be ordered from 1-714-841-5349 at a reasonable price. (I have no connection financially or otherwise to this business).

Even so, as Cajun girl says, it should be taken under the supervision of your doctor. As you are on Mepron, you probably are having your liver enzymes monitored anyway.

You should start gradually on Artemesinin. And it will produce a herx.

Thanks, I"ve been on the mepron for 6 and a half weeks and I haven't had any liver enzyme tests ordered, hmmm! I have been given transfer factor plasymc and just got acyclovir for a whole host of viruses I have. I'm beginning to be a little concerned about my treatment, as I see that others are taking more than just the mepron. I was on clarithromycin but it gave me palps, so I was to discontinue that. But isn't there something else that would work in place of it?? Fry labs also showed that I have bartonella. I also have issues with my thyroid. I thought I had the thyroid worked out but now I am hurting all over, so I'm not sure about that anymore. I've tried the coffee enema, and will continue with them. I asked my provider about the Epsom salts bath, but she said no because of the magnesium, bio-films use magnesium. I went and bought a clay mask and will try that. I will also be sure to ask her about the Artemesinin, and the liver enzyme tests. Thank you all for so much info!

How often while on the mepron, should someone have their liver enzymes checked?

I will be starting babesia treatment tomorrow.

I will take clindamycin, mepron and artemisia.

I will be starting them slowly one at a time.

I tested negative through igenex but my LLMD thinks I might have it.

I have been sick for three years and have not tried this.

I am alergic to zithromax that's why i'll be starting the clindamycin instead.

I'm not looking forward to this at all.

Wish me luck.rolleyes
