Ok, so now I've been at the 200mg/day IV Doxy for a few weeks, I'm herxing...how do I herx?  Apparently my gut decides some part of it will completely stop working.  So now I have a small bowel obstruction (I have a history of these) and there's nothing I can do about it.  Had weaned down to 450 calories on the TPN and was actually eating...but now unable to eat again and back on 1200 calories of the TPN.  Why do I take 5 steps backwards for every tiny half-step forwards???!!!  Arrrrrggghhh!!!

I think detoxing is what you need right now. Once the antibiotics work and kill off the bacteria, then you need to move those toxins out of the body.
I think thats one thing the regular doctors dont encourage enough. All that stuff has to move out of your system.
Hope you feel better soon .

Thanks for your reply. I wish I could...can't figure out how. Can't take a bath (no working tub, hot water tank too small anyway), can't lift the foot bath bin (nobody to lift it for me). Gut's shut down so can't do detoxing that way, either (I've done colonics, but they're expensive, not covered on insurance, and very painful for me)...and my options are limited even when my gut does work. The only detoxing I get is from the liter of fluids through my PICC line daily. When I run more fluids, I get really bad fluid retention...

Sorry, I'm just in a pickle and don't know how to get myself out of it right now.

Oh Razzle, I wish so much that there would be a way we could help you! You offer and give SO MUCH here, and I'm sure not accustomed to seeing a post where Razzle is venting!

I have been amazed that you have  not been broken down yet, with all that you suffer.  I am glad that you feel you can vent-- I know that relief is only temporary and very brief, but I, for one, have not understood how and why you don't vent more often or completely shut down.

You must be one heck of a fighter, that's for sure. Are you alone? (you said there's no one to lift the foot bath bin for you).  Is there not anybody anywhere who can help you w/ these types of things?

I know you have already told us (because I asked) how long you have had Lyme, but would you please remind us?

There has GOT to be someone who can help you!!  Can you please tell us what you need??

My thoughts and prayers are with you -- I am praying for either a miracle healing, or at least the offer of a road down which you would be able to travel to find healing.  Certainly that is not too much to ask!

Hang on, Razzle, please hang on.  Are you able to sleep??

Hi Razzle,

Goodness, I really feel for you..   I am going to throw some idea's out:

1.  Dry Skin Brushing.  Can you do that?

2.  Drink Aloe Master, it works miracles and helps with the gut from the inside out.  I tried all different types of Aloe Drinks and Aloe Master is the best in my opinion.

3.  about 1-1/2 years ago, I bought a inflatable small foot tub (perfect for the feet) that has a watermelon design on it.  I knew I should have bought more than 1, darn!  I am going to see if I can locate something similar and send it to  you if you will allow me to do so..

4.  Are you able to drink Green Vibrance?  Are you allergic to any of the ingredients?  It lists the ingredients on their website.

Let me know, okay and please hang in there.

I'm happy you vented, you are only human and we all need to vent... Even me!  tongue

Deejavu,

Thanks for the ideas. I've tried dry skin brushing but it hurts my skin very much...I don't understand why. Maybe it is because I can't take showers with the PICC line (no way to keep the water off it) so I use waterless bath wipes instead...

Aloe is bad new for my GI tract and often has sulfur which I also cannot handle. I don't even do well with it on my skin.

I still don't know how I would lift the foot bath bin - when it is full of water, it is too heavy for me (not to mention, I can't lean over due to the feeding tube bothering me too much when I do). My husband works long hours and has back problems so lifting is not good for him either. My Mom has an abdominal hernia, so she can't lift either. There's nobody else around to help.

Tried to find ingredients on the website for Green Vibrance and was unable to...it kept taking me back to a page with a bunch of hype and no info. But it did say it has 64 ingredients - that's scary! I know I can't have any cruciferous vegetables, garlic, alfalfa (often chlorophyll is derived from alfalfa), wheat, wheat grass, barley grass, barley, oats, oat grass, rye, corn, corn syrup, corn starch, methionine, cysteine, coconut, coconut oil, licorice, slippery elm, animal enzymes, fish/shellfish/meat/egg/milk derivatives, or any of dozens of other herbs and foods. With the bowel obstruction, I also cannot do anything with insoluble fiber until the blockage resolves.

+Lyme,

I have my moments when I'm not all cheery and such... I've had Lyme at least 30 years...and have been on many immunosuppressant medications from misdiagnoses over the years...so the Lyme is very, very entrenched and mostly affects my gut, nerves, immune system, and joints...although other things are also affected, too.

Sleep - well, sort of.  I never feel like I get enough no matter how many hours I spend in bed...and I constantly battle insomnia.

I don't even know what to ask for, so just being able to come and vent is helpful.

Thanks,

Hi Razzle,
I am sooooo sorry to hear about the way you are feeling right now! I have read a lot of your posts over the years & know that you are a very strong person! Everyone needs a chance to vent once in a while!!!

I feel for you with the gut issues!! Have you ever thought of using Kefir? Here is a link to explain what it is(in case you don't already know);
www.kefir.net/kefiryogurt.htm

This is not a site I have used much, but it offers a good description of kefir.

To go much more in-depth about kefir this would be a good site (& it's the site I use most);
users.sa.chariot.net.au/~dna/kefirpage.html

So as to not go on (and on & on & on rolleyes) about kefir when there may not be any interest...

If anyone would like to know a little more about Kefir, feel free to contact me directly, or here on HW.
I am not selling anything!!

I hope this info helps someone.

Kefir = dairy = off limits for me right now. I used to like it when I was really little, but now the smell turns my stomach.

Thanks anyways...

Hi again Razzle,

It just may be the Doxy that is giving you all the problems...  I was reading how antibiotics can cause food allergies, gut problems, etc.    I remember you saying before that if you stopped the Doxy that you would end up in the hospital so I don't know what you should do.    It's a shame that you can't stop the Doxy totally and use natural botanicals.   I don't think it's the lyme bacteria that is messing with your gut, I think it's the Doxy.

Below are some interesting articles regarding antibiotics and food allergies/gut problems:

Hope this helps,

Denise

I am in no way trying to convince anyone to start using Kefir, but just to set the record straight, kefir is not necessarily a dairy product. Kefir can be cultured using certain soy milks, or even water (yes seriously, water!!).

I do hope you find something to help you soon, Razzle!!!

Didn't realize kefir could be non-dairy. Thanks for letting me know. I'd love to get my Husband on it (he has a severe dairy allergy, so it is good that it doesn't have to be dairy) or some kind of probiotic...

Thanks & take care,
