I am 25 and have only in the past two months started wondering if I have Lyme. I finally got the arthritis symptoms in my knee (which literally just started up one day about a month ago) confirmed by an X-ray. It showed joint loss. Two months prior to that, my left great toe went numb and I couldn't lift it. An EMG showed acute axon loss. In the past few weeks I've begun to feel muscle tightness in my legs, folliculitis type rash up and down my legs, etc. Another common symptom throughout the three months has been odd sensations (tingling, moving sensations, pricks, spasms) in my entire body but primarily in the left leg and foot. The list goes on: joint stiffness, lethargy/fatigue, cold sensations passing through my joints, getting shocked a lot now for some reason.
It has all driven me quite mad, as I don't handle stress well. I recently moved far from home for school and all this came crashing down on me out of nowhere. I mean, I believe it has been purposed for some reason - but it's still so bizarre.
My primary doctor has done all the tests for the usual small things you'd suspect from these symptoms. Been to an infectious disease dr. and he told me that there is no treatment for chronic Lyme and refused to get me a Western blot test for it. My primary doctor did the simple Lyme test and it came back negative. I'm fully aware now that I will have to see an LLMD to know anything. In the meantime, I have a neurologist appt. Thursday finally (been waiting almost 2 months) who is apparently really good. I have labored and labored over my symptoms trying to connect the pieces, and I am suspecting Lyme primarily because of when the folliculitis started - along with a plethora of other Lyme-specific symptoms - or Celiac, Morgellons, or maybe even Fibromyalgia. I just hope that this doctor will understand my concerns and see that something is, IN FACT, wrong. It will be nice to have somebody in the medical profession confirm my suspicions. Lyme or not, it appears to be more of an infection because of the folliculitis (along with now suddenly visible spider veins)
Did I have a bull's-eye-rash? Not that I remember. I do remember a year ago suddenly having a week where my urine was dark and I felt like my body was heating up and I felt mildly fatigued. No fever, just mild weakness.
I know I could have gotten the Lyme anywhere, but I wonder now about getting a bite when I visited the mountains of North Georgia 2 years ago and did all kinds of hiking, rafting, etc all summer. I have heard that Lyme seems to have a prominence there....
Also - about to do a food sensitivity test with Sage Medical Lab so that I can help rebuild my immune system if it is currently being impaired by any autoimmune problem due to a food sensitivity.
one last thing: I got bit by a tick, of all things, a week ago. I have had no noticeable symptoms from it. Nothing to be concerned about?
