I started perimenopause about 3 years ago and then I went 11 months without getting "it"..  Well, on the 11th month I got a "flood" which lasted almost 3 weeks, oucheroo!  I'll leave out the details but it was not fun.

The past months have been getting worse for me as far as menopausal symptoms and one morning I woke up and said to myself "Denise, is it really necessary to suffer like this?"    Insomnia (when I was always the best sleeper), leg cramps, depression, mood swings, and almost everything on the menopause symptom list.

Being the crazy researcher that I am, I googled and googled and read and read and finally decided to try to find a "compounding pharmacy" which I did to my surprise (not far from where I live) and spoke to a pharmacist there and practically was crying on the telephone to him!  After I told him my symptoms he recommended a doctor (also not that far from me) who specializes in BioIdentical Hormone Replacement Therapy and I have a consult 1 week from today (June 14th).

I know I won't see the doctor that day as it is a consult and I am really hoping that this doctor can help me..  I never knew menopause could be so rough and I had enough of these darn symptoms!

Wish me luck okay?

Denise,

Sorry you've been suffering so much with all those painful symptoms. I know this sounds sexist, but I'm glad I'm not a woman. :-)

Yes, I wish you luck, and you know me, I'll be praying for you too! Keep us posted.

Denise,

You have definitely made the right choice for hormone replacement. I would never take any of the synthetic medicines. I've heard many good things about Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy. Good luck with it and keep us posted. I'm sure it won't be much longer for me, in fact I'm going have my hormone levels tested soon.

I am so with you on this one Denise. Stinks does it not? The symptoms alone are enought to drive one right over the edge!!

I too have an appt. in July for bioidentical.

Hope all goes well for you and you get some relief!

Thanks everyone!  Gary, you crack me up.. how come men don't go through this?

CG, yes, after researching the bioidentical seems so much better.

1bitten2xshy, yeah, menopause really stinks!  I have tried most supplements and even though I am sure they do help, they do not eliminate my symptoms (black cohosh, b total, green vibrance, calcium/mag combo called CALM, ha!)  I hope your app't goes well, I heard really good things about bioidentical.

Scorpio (I'm a Scorp too), I really have faith in this doctor after what the pharmacist told me about her and her background (naturally I googled her as well and she seems to know her stuff).

I have not been exercising like I used to, I'm too tired!  Though I have been gardening more and trimming hedges big time so I think I am getting my exercise that way.    Right now I think I will dry skin brush and take a detox bath..  One of the best things in my house is my whirlpool tub with 8 jets, I feel like I am getting a massage..

But I'll probably be up at 3:00 in the morning from a hot flash!!   LOL!   Hey, if I don't laugh then I just may cry which I don't want to do...

It's so great to talk about this and know that I'm not alone (which I have been feeling), that itself makes me feel so much better!   So a big THANKS to all!!

Denise

Guys are clueless what we go through–the "flood" hits and continues month after month–then get pregnant and "modesty" is not a word in the "girly dictionary" and that is just the beginning. I guarantee, and this is just my opinion, if men had babies there would never be a population explosion. LOL!

Denise, you are really "going through it" these days, so sorry. Glad you have that appointment scheduled. The internet is an amazing library for doing research.

I do have some good news. I am on the other side of menopause, been there done that, and better days are ahead and right around the corner.

I went the BioIdentical Hormone Replacement Therapy route and my symptoms disappeared rather quickly. I have a very good female "girly doctor" and she is up on all the latest. Being on the Hormones was rather short lived (thank God because I hate to take anything! Plus I'm sure you read the pros and CONS ). My hormones balanced out and I have had no problems since. Good thing because then I got bit by a tick…

Anyway...

Right before I stopped taking the Hormones I did have that gut sense it was time to get off of them. You have that good sense of intuition and will know what to do.

In your research, I'm sure you saw the other things you can do too. Yeah, exercise is big.

The body just needs a little help as the "flood" gate closes. Big Grin.

1bitten2xshy, glad you have that appt in July. Really, better days are just ahead.

"One of the best things in my house is my whirlpool tub with 8 jets" - Can I come to your house???? Pretty please???? Giggle!!
This is one of the things that is rushing towards me & I am concerned at how I will handle it!!!! I'm afraid my hubby may have to move out while I go through menopause!!

Deejavu - I wish you the best - of course!! And, please, please do keep us informed on how your tx goes!!!!
