hello my lyme dr put me on difucan for yeast cause he found no bacteria in my urine...after i had been on cipro from my md to have a uti...so the lyme dr told me to stop all abx. so i did for 2 days and i felt worse so freaked out and took the abx the md gave me (he gave me diff. ones since the cipro wasnt working) so i was reading on line that it can be candida  (yeast i tink i spelled that wrong) so now i think i just made it worse by not listening to the lyme dr and stay off the abx. but i always have utis a few times a year but this one just wont go away. i be going on 3 weeks. so tongiht i took my last difucan and stopping the abx...see what happens....i just have a urge to urinate every 10 minutes its annoying and lower stomache has a bit cramping. i just dont know what to do

any one ever feel like this?

I never got UTIs till this year. The first one put me in the hospital for three days because it turned into a kidney infection. I have one now that is just irritating because I feel like I have to pee all the time. Urg. I guess I wanted to say I feel your pain, :)

A UTI that will not go away with treatment may be something else. In 2007 I was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis. It feels just like a UTI, including frequency. If your bacteria levels do not indicate a bladder infection, that may be the problem. A great forum for IC is http://www.ic-network.com/

There are a lot of things you can do to help with the pain, urgency, and frequency.

In 2009, when I was diagnosed with Lyme, bartonella, and babesia, my LLMD told me the IC was probably caused by bartonella. Even so, my bladder symptoms were minimized when I followed the IC diet and other recommendations.

I hope you feel better soon.

When I got UTI my urologist gave me cipro--no thanks! Took D-Mannose and it cleared it up.

Are you sure it's a UTI? Babesia can cause UTI-like symptoms, including burning urination, bladder pain, urgency, and dark urine. This was happening to me for a while, but every time I was tested for a UTI, it came back negative.

If it is an antibiotic-resistant strain of bacteria then abx won't fix the problem. You might try cranberry juice...but if it is IC, this may make the pain worse.

I get bladder pain whenever I stop abx...need to address this with my LLND soon, because I likely won't be on the IV abx much longer...

I have had chronic UTI since I was 15, I am now almost 22 and still have it. I have tried almost everything and probably been to the doctors or a&e 50+ times about it. Anyway, I KNOW it is from borrelia burgdorferi because when I feel better from Bb, I feel better from UTIs- for me they always come together and my Lyme doctor believes undoubtedly Bb is the cause. I also found it was through electroacupuncture. Anyway today I still have it on a daily basis but I don't need antibiotics I can fight it off on my own when it
worsens. So this is what has helped me (FAR MORE) than any antibiotic!!!! (I was on IV and still had it, on azithromycin and it was still there):

drink plenty of water, minimum 2 liters a day!! I use a lot of lemon/lime in the water, dunno if this helps but I feel like it does.
Korean ginseng if you are a male
Siberian ginseng if you are female. This has very powerful effects for me:) beware of side effects though like insomnia apparently. I use it only when desperate.
the homeopathic remedy cantharis (I don't know where I would be without this!!!) I took it in aqute stages where it reached the point of my teeth chattering of pain and in less than an hour of taking it I would feel fine!!
Probiotics or kefir is meant to really help with UTIs.

I know that as long as I have Bb Im gonna have to live with this - but I'm happy I have my remedies to keep it under control.

Wish you all with UTIs the best of luck as I know too well how horrible and inhibiting it is.
Xx

thank you all for your replys...it was very helpful. I stoped the antibioctics for the uti and since i my dr told me to stop treatment. I took another diflucan (yeast pill) and i felt sooo much better. The abx for the uti was making me worse. So i dont know if that means i have yeast build up in my stomache of if it was lyme bartenella symptoms flaring up. I go back to the lyme dr on monday so i will see what he thinks.

So lots of water and crandberry to keep flushing the sytem and trying my hardest to stay away from sugar and carbs.....sooo hard...
