My internist suggested that I consider getting a Biomat.  It's quite expensive and I don't want to go into even more debt for something that might not work....so far nothing really has.  Has anyone had positive results from using a Biomat?  Do you think it's worth purchasing?  Any opinions on this would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Hi scorpio,

I have wondered about the biomat also.  The only thing I can tell you is that the mat is used at the Hansa Center in Wichita, Kansas, as part of the therapies they offer there.  When you get a massage there, you are lying on top of one of the mats.  Also, when having LUX therapy there, you are also lying on one.  I thought it felt great because it was warm and relaxing, but I cannot really tell you what all it does.  There is probably some info on the Hansa website or maybe ask your doc for info about it.   I did not know how much they cost----did you find a website for the company?  I wish I had an educated opinion about the mat, but I am not qualified to give one.  I have no idea if they are worth it, but I can tell you it is more comfortable than being in the infrared sauna.  That is why I was considering looking into getting one.  It seems people like the positive effects they get from using infrared waves but I am not a fan of saunas even though many individuals love them.

Looking forward to hearing what you find out about the biomat on this thread.

Best wishes to you,

bablymers mom

Hi bablymers mom! Sorry I didn't respond sooner but I haven't been on-line much lately.

I also considered getting a sauna but many days I can't even get out of bed so that's why my internist thought this might be a solution for me. It can be used while laying in bed and on lower settings for longer periods when sleeping.

If you google Biomat you will find a few companies who sell them and describe what it does. I found one place that has a 30-day full refund policy (healingartsgarden) and I'm just trying to figure out how I can pay for it.

If I do go ahead and get it, I'll make sure to let everyone know if it helps or not.

Thanks Scorpio! I agree with your analysis. I would love to know how you like it if you do get one. Like I said before, I am not a good candidate for whole body saunas, but I tolerated the mat just fine and even enjoyed it. I will have to look into the costs and decide if I should get one. I guess it's like everything else related to lyme----it's complicated and hard to figure out just how much help each type of therapy or product yields!

Thanks for your input. Best wishes to you, bablymers mom

I just went to the website; that's interesting. It wasn't clear tome, does this serve the same function as an IR sauna? If it's used at Hansa, I'm thinking the EMF level is acceptable, but I'd still want to know about that. I look forward to hearing more about this.

The above is a Bio Mat from Amazon and you need to READ the Comments, but especially from Chris Pyne who is a distributor and really knocks this one person down. I even left a comment because I think this mat really works....but maybe NOT for everyone??
I may contact this Chris because he gives a 60 day trial period on the mat.
It's amazing what lengths people with Lyme....and other disease go to...to FEEL better....and have a better quality of life regardless of how much it costs. We are desperate people!

L.P.

I got my mat and pillow from Chris Pyne because he does give the longest trial period and for me it did take a long while but it does work. It is a great investment for pain and sleep disorders. I highly recommend it. I do recommend you putting a natural wool cover on it to help pad it. I don't go any where without it and have traveled with it cross country. Chris is a stand up guy and stands behind the mat if you have any problems. You have to take into consideration how long you have had your health issues to figure how long it may take to help. Somethings you may find it has already helped but things that have been going on for a longer period may take longer, that is something I would say with any health issue.

Hi All .. I have the Richway Bio Mat and I love it .. It has helped me in alot of ways .. After buying mine I found a massage therapist who uses one while giving massages and it is Amazing .... I feel so much better the day after I go to her and lay on the Bio Mat for an hour while getting a massage.. I had to start out real slow on the Mat so it didnt make me sicker ... after a few weeks of laying on it on a low setting I slowly started to increase the setting and now I do fine on it :)

Did you use it every day?
I dont trust most of the people with such glowing reviews cause apparently if you buy one you can automatically become a distributor...
which all just become some pyramid scheme in my mind.
this is just too much money to gamble with on a magical mat...
I would actually buy one if we could get a lot of real people's experiences, and with
prayingforamiracle, i tend to believe you rather than people who say it cures everything.
im scared to purchase things that dont deliver, i cant even count how many stupid vitamins and stuff i have bought over my whole life and none of them made any kind of noticable effect

does everyone who buys this thing get rewarded for their glowing reviews?

The person above Prayingforamiracle, Andisgd, just signs up to this site on the day he/she posts and writes how wonderful the biomat is. Yeah I would stay away from these kinds of "too good to be true" cure-all products.

I bought one a couple of years ago. I didn't notice any relief from the lyme symptoms I had at the

time. In fact, during the time I was using the Biomat additional symptoms appeared.

I did read somewhere online that particular types of infrared light

may in fact aggravate particular infections, and can hurt rather than help those with particular lyme strains and

co-infections. On the other hand it may inhibit other bacteria - lyme strains, co-infections. So, it may help some, and

not others. I eventually sold mine to a family member who was having back problems, she eventually sold it also, having decided it wasn't really helping her.

I will say it made a nice bed warmer for cold winter nights, though an expensive one.

Hi. I have a friend that got the biomat last year because she was diagnosed with breast cancer and she also had Lyme disease symptoms that were so severe she was confined to her bed.
He had used one in a health spa and it was the only time she had any relief from pain. She has been using it since last June and he doctor is so impressed that he just purchased it for his office so his patients could use it.

She told me about it because I have toxic chemical exposure and have insomnia and was on ambien for over 17 years which made things worse and i can finally sleep. If you have any questions about how I use it let me know.

I bought a mini Biomat from Richway 6 wks. ago and I returned it. It's very relaxing and since I alway run cold I loved the heat. But my reason for buying it was to detox. The information on the website and also the pamphlets suggested that if you are using it to detox that you would be sweating alot but it didn't make me sweat at all. I stayed on it for 2 hrs. one night and I had to eventually get off because my skin was burning from the heat but I still wasn't breaking a sweat--it was strange. I'm wondering if maybe getting the full-size one would have been more beneficial? I'm not sure, but I didn't want to spend $2K to find out.

Having said all of this, I also must mention that I do not have Lyme symptoms, only Bart symptoms. I feel like if I had symptoms of arthritis and muscle aches, this would probably work wonders for you. The heat goes really deep which I would imagine would be of great benefit to arthritis sufferers.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents since it is alot of money to spend.

Has anyone used a Bio Mat along with a Reiki treatment?
I am considering buying one, but just can't a read on them. Some say the best thing ever ( distributors for Richway) and some say " Not so good" Thoughts if any.. thanks.

Any treatment varies from person to person. What works for one may not work for another.

I bought 2 used ones this year (the pro model) and it is helping my daughter with her stiffness and she worked up a good sweat on it the first time she used it. Her comment was, "I never have sweat running down my back!". She likes the high heat and will do it in the evening so she can go to bed without so much stiffness. I don't know if it's killing off anything, but she is benefiting from it. I don't think she's having the intermittent fevers as much any more, so maybe it is killing bacteria.

I just don't sweat easily, so I don't do it much while on the mat, but I do a little. It does loosen up muscles well and helps me feel better.

I forgot to mention that I know of a person who sandwiches herself between 2 of them and she feels it helps her a lot. Expensive to do it, though, unless you can get them used.

We have a mini one, and my daughter loves it, but it just feels good to her. More like a cozy heating pad. We also bought an iMRS mat--I love it, and it helps with energy and pain. So far, my daughter is still working up her time near it, as she has been really sensitive to it. I believe it is helping, but will not make a declarative statement on it for her quite yet! (she is the one with Lyme!)

Thanks for the information. I am still not sold on them yet. They are very expensive and until I feel it is not a hoax, I will not invest the money. Reiki is a powerful and healing without the mat. The mat would just add comfort and I was hoping some of the items that they claim it does. I guess time will tell, thanks again.

I debated for a long time whether or not to get one, but I'm glad I did. Getting 2 used ones helped with my decision. I've been using it daily now that it's cool outside and I think I stayed on it too long for a couple of days, since I didn't feel very good the next day, so I think it killed off some bacteria. I was feeling tired and achy. I spent less time on it last night and felt better from it, after dragging all day long. I'll continue to use it daily throughout the fall and winter. It feels better to me than a sauna does and I think it's because more of my body is in contact with the heat. I think the rock feels better than what's in our sauna too.

It has helped with constipation, which was a surprise. I'm not sure what it does to help, though.

My doctor used one during his bout with cancer.

Watch Craig's list for used ones and maybe you can find a good deal on one like I did, only I didn't get it off craig's list.

http://www.thebiomatstore.com/information.php Scroll down to the bottom of the page where it says to call about demos. I assume they're selling them at a discount.

I don't feel that they're a hoax. If they are then so are FIR saunas. I have both and I'll be selling the sauna. The heat from the mat feels better to me, probably because of the rocks.

To help induce sweating, you can cover up with a blanket or use a space blanket, which I'm thinking of trying since I need to work on getting my body to sweat.
