Random bruises appear?

Hi, Anyone have bruises appear for no reason?  I have allways bruised easily, but I have noticed that I get what look like a bruise, that appear near my knee toward the back and sometimes other places for no reason.  They seem to stay around for a long time and don't seem like a injury bruise, ie; color changes, etc.

I have had what you are describing for most of my life!! I haven't been able to figure out if it was from the tick-borne illnesses or from one of the viruses I carry. I'll be following this thread to see what other think.

I also have random bruising, like on the side of my buttocks and thigh.  My hips feel like they are bruised, but don't have any discoloration.  I also have a bruise on the top of my knee that I do remember hitting pretty hard, so I wasn't surprised to get a nasty bruise.  What is surprising is that its been over a month since I hit my knee there and the bruise is still there and is tender!

I am assuming that this has to do with Lyme.....?

I've actually had this happen to me a couple of times, very recently (which I find odd if it's related to Lyme that it would suddenly begin to happen almost three years into the illness...but ya just never know - Lyme is always surprising us!). I have read that random/unexplained bruising can be a symptom. I don't bruise easily and one of the bruises I had was on my forearm and was BLACK. It lasted almost two weeks, didn't hurt at all, and was just very strange (it was so dark I was too embarrassed to even go to the gas station without covering it). I just got another one yesterday on my knee - not as dark, but this one does hurt a little...could be I bumped it and just don't remember!

Welcome to our forum!!!! I'm sure am sorry that have a need to be here, but you will find us to be a helpful & caring bunch!!! We also can understand what you may be experiencing as, chances are, someone here has likely gone through the same issue. We have several different styles of treatment being represented here as well. I am using acupuncture & Western & Chinese herbology to get through this.

Have you been diagnosed with a tick-borne infection, or do you suspect that you have one?? Are you seeing a Lyme Literate MD?

Bruising like we were talking about above is typical with Tick-borne illnesses. What other symptoms do you live with?

Thanks for the welcome, Trav.  I've been on abx for over 3 months for Lyme.  My CD57 count was 57, and my lab results from IGenx has not come back yet.  Things have calmed down for now with symptoms.  I think the fatigue and dizziness and brain fog are the worst, but the "sand" in my legs makes it slow to walk.  Every once in a while, the "sand" feeling (heaviness) swirls around and it feels really creepy.

I enjoy reading others' posts, and putting my 2 cents in when I can.  I am learning alot!  Glad this forum is here.

I get the heavy legs feeling a lot as well.

I am looking forward to getting to know you through your posts, as I believe we all have something to share!!!

What kind of doc are you seeing for your treatment?

the answer is yes. Before I was diagnosed with lyme I was getting huge bruises and didn't know why. I even took pictures of them because some were the size of baseballs and I was pratically bedridden at this time so I knew I didn't get them from anywhere. I was going to the Dr's weekly lot back then because I didn't yet know I had lyme and was given vit K shots (which didn't help).

It turned out they were from having lyme. just another one of the stange symptoms. Good news is with treatment it stopped and can't remember now the last time I had bruises like that.

We get the bruising too. We are easy to bruise when injured and even get random bruises in odd places for no reason at all. They can even last a long time. Some hurt, some don't. It's crazy and annoying. I think there can be multiple reasons for the bruises, but I think the lyme and babesia are the main underlying reasons. At one time I had researched and could name a few of the specifics---like vitamin deficiency, poor circulation, etc. but now I can't remember any of them!! The blood vessels can become weak and fragile or stressed, causing them to leak more easily. Wish I could remember enough to answer you properly. Sorry.

Another lymie gave me a tip----she said she puts neosporin on her bruises and they go away faster. I haven't tried it yet. Maybe someone here has tried it and can add their experience.

A friend of mine started getting random bruising - it turned out to be leukeamia - I am not trying to frighten anyone - but thoiught I should mention it - maybe it can be a sign of being low in B12 as I know this was also a factor for my friend - she made a full recovery.
