I'm sure this has been addressed before, but I'm having problems especially at night with leg and foot cramps.  Most come on suddenly, or the leg cramps will hit when I try to stretch them while lying down.  I have increased my magnesium (enough??? I don't know) but this time it hasn't helped.  I'm detoxing a good bit plus running to the bathroom more than usual because I'm drinking a lot of lemon water.  I had thought about potassium or trace minerals but didn't want to run out and buy something that I don't need.  Have only been in the sauna a couple of times for major sweats but I thought I had that covered with the Green Vibrance and fresh veggies from the garden.  Any suggestions?

There have been some great posts on here recently.

Simela, there's something I'm trying to pull together about the new test the NIH is working on.  Even with a new test that might be more sensitive, if the CDC still has diagnosis guidelines that are lower (or is it higher???) than Igenex (sp?), does it really matter if the test is more sensitive?  Wouldn't they still call it negative even if more tests came back a low positive???  I hope this makes sense.  Brain isn't doing well the last couple of days....

Have you increased your fluid intake?  Diarrhea causes water loss in addition to electrolyte loss.

Also, calcium and potassium are needed for preventing muscle cramps in addition to magnesium.

Homeopathic Mag. Phos. is a good remedy for leg cramps at night, too.

Thanks Razzle. I used to have a homeopathic for leg cramps several years ago. Maybe I should revisit that method of treatment..... Electrolytes are something to consider because of the sweating I've done recently. All I know is the leg and foot cramps hurt like the dickens when they hit. Any other suggestions will be appreciated....

Just visiting here again and saw your post. Muscle cramps for me are related to bartonella.

I get leg cramps from low potassium and foot cramps from Bartonella. Just started increasing my potassium intake so I will see what happens.

It wouldn't surprise me to have Bart but haven't been officially diagnosed. Somebody said Vitamin D might help so I'll try that along with the potassium. May also p/u some trace minerals. Seems to occur the most early morning. Strange.

As always...thank you for your help....

I'm sorry your having this cause it is very painful as of yet I still can't get this under control.
it seems the longer I have had lyme and all co-infections. The more symptoms get worse.

I have basically used up all treatments, I'm on 15 yrs and also have done alittle of the herbal that does't work either. please take care my prayers are with you.

marlene/mainegirl How long have u had lyme and co-infections ?

Hi mainegirl... Fortunately, I do not have the deep throbbing pain you described. Mine are mostly early morning and better described as intense charley horses. They'll bring me out of bed. I have been sick for the most of 40 years and it all began with massive dental work involving mercury and a root canal. Not sure which came first...whether I already had the lyme bacteria or the mercury made me more susceptible, but I've been fighting every step of the way. Any progress I've made is because of my own research, definitely not because of brilliant doctors. I still haven't been tested for co-infections...$$$$....but I do have the + lyme diagnosis. It's stories like yours that makes me very sad...to invest all that time treating and still not ahead. My prayers are with you as well....
