I have heard what Trav said - stay away from dairy when taking doxy - but only 2 hours before and 2 hours after.  I am on doxy so I don't have dairy for breakfast or at bedtime, but I do have it for lunch and dinner.  Jay Robb has egg protein shakes that are not dairy - I think.  Eggs come from a chicken not a cow - you may say "Well Duh...."  but I considered eggs to be dairy until about 2 months ago.  idea

I would not drink the whey protein at breakfast because that is dairy, but maybe the egg protein or soy protein shakes will be safe?

Wow, I'm glad I found this thread! I'm having the same problem....total aversion to food in the morning. And I was just dx with adrenal fatigue.

Mamayou, would you please post the name and author of your adrenal book? I'm interested in learning more....

I am really struggling with the morning food aversion, particularly because I'm on Mepron, and I read that in order to really absorb the medication, you have to eat around 20 grams of fat (UGH!) with each teaspoon of Mepron you take. I tried eating bacon in the morning but it makes me feel so SICK. I just can't do it! Eating anything with that much fat just sounds so revolting. What can I do?? Is anyone else with this problem on Mepron?

Hi everyone,

Try using rice milk, nut milks, hemp milk, and Coconut Milk (my daughters favorite) etc. Check the labels because some brands use sugar or "bad stuff" and a few are OK.

Puffed rice cereal is blah (which is why I like it), but you can use agave syrup, maple syrup, stevia, or other sweetener of choice and can sprinkle a little cinnamon to flavor it. There is a gluten free version of crispy rice cereal made by Erewhon that is tasty and uses rice syrup as a sweetener. You can add fresh fruit or raisins etc. to help flavor it and can sprinkle in flax seeds or meal.

I used to dislike rice cakes, but now I like them. You can buy plain ones (no sugar or salt) and then dab on some sugar free jam or jelly (read labels).

Our doc suggested we eat a tablespoon of olive oil with the mepron but we found that hard to do. Maybe you can take capsules of fish oil or some other oils with it? Ask your doc which kind would be OK. Maybe you have a good recipe for an oily salad dressing you could mix into potato salad or bean salad etc., or cook your eggs in butter etc. to get more oil into your food with the med. Maybe a pesto sauce on rice pasta for breakfast?

Ask your doc about avocados because they have good oil in them and taste great with any meal. Don't know how much you would have to eat to get enough oil with the med.

Best wishes to all, bablymers mom

Thanks bablymers mom! Those are great suggestions!

Several people posted on a different forum that they thought I should try making smoothies with almond or coconut milk and full-fat yogurt + fruit...and if I needed to I could add some oil and it would probably not be detectable.

Fortunately my doctor told me yesterday that I could stop the Mepron for now if I want! And boy, do I want! I've been on it for two months and just can't stand it anymore....

But I will still try smoothies to see if I can tempt myself to eat something in the morning....I'm really having problems with the whole food aversion thing. I managed to make a mushroom omelette the other day but couldn't finish it. My five year old son was happy to finish it for me! :)
