Hi Simela,
I'm taking Singulair for Asthma (mine is cough-variant, so I don't wheeze as much as cough when I have Asthma). I get Asthma in the Autumn, after colds/flu, from exercise, and also at night when I try to lay down for sleep. But since taking the Singulair, so far I have not had an Asthma attack....keeping my fingers crossed, though, because October is usually the month that I get more attacks than any other time of year...
I think it is worth a try for your Son. It is not a steroid (like some of the inhalers or Prednisone), and only blocks one tiny piece of the immune system (Leukotriene B4, if I remember right), so it is pretty benign. My Husband's been on it for a couple years now and it is helpful for keeping his Asthma under control as well...
Take care,
