Good to hear from you, CajunGrl! I'm so glad you got your shot and didn't have bad side effects!
I got one too, and only had a sore arm, same as you described, and I have practically every disease known to man! LOL!
I always ask for a thimerosol-free version of the shot. I used to get the flu practically every year before I started getting the shots; I would then develop either bronchitis or pneumonia! So I've been getting the vaccinations religiously for years now. Pneumonia is nothing to play around with.
That said, I've recently begun to question vaccines in general. Apparently they've been adding a compound called squalene to flu vaccines, which stimulates the immune system to react more strongly to the vaccine. This is viewed as a good thing by the makers of the vaccines, because it does ultimately help the flu shots to work better at preventing people from catching the flu.
However, the article I read says that they don't understand the mechanism by which squalene does this. And I have SO DARN MANY autoimmune diseases I started to wonder if vaccine adjuvants like squalene might have helped a few of these diseases develop in me??? Granted, I've had a few AI diseases since I was a child, but I didn't develop some of the others until I started getting the flu shots every year.
I know that Lyme can also trigger AI disease, and I do blame Lyme for my autoimmune hepatitis, rheumatoid arthritis, and lupus....I just wonder if compounds like squalene given to a person who already has a genetic propensity for developing AI diseases might be a bad thing??
I'm not a doctor, so I could be way out in left field here.....there may be NO connection at all, it just made me wonder!
Food for thought.....
