Hi there everyone im new to this forum. I started getting ill in Jan & Diagnosed Feb 11th. Started Doxy 2/11 & Zithromax 2/26. Stopped Zithromax 3/25 because the LLMD says i seem to have alot of neuro symptoms so he's going to treat me with IV Rocephin & Zithromax together.

So curently im only taking Doxycycline 200mg until i gett my PICC Line April 11th (next monday). But my insurance only covers 30days. Im wondering is that enough time for me to feel some relief?

It may or may not be... If you are really newly infected, then it may be enough to get things kick-started in the right direction so you can finish treatment on orals only.

Yeah, it is common for insurance to only cover 30 days, thanks to the mis-information they use to base their claims processing on from the CDC/IDSA. But there is research to suggest that, if symptoms persist beyond the 30 days on IV abx, one should have another round of 30 days at least... Appealing the insurance rejection of the 2nd 30 days will probably require that this info be presented to the ins. co. Your doctor may know of such research, so discuss this with him/her. Also, make sure your doctor is ILADS-trained so that you are getting the appropriate treatment for your specific case of Lyme.

Do you know if you have any coinfections (such as Babesia, Bartonella, Ehrlichia, Anaplasma, Mycoplasms)?

Take care,

They say there is a high risk of relapse with only 30 days of IV.

Good luck with the IV. My insurance company denied me altogether, even after appealing. Just remember though that unless you remember the bite, most people have had longer than they think and a while before symptoms start. Hopefully you got it early!!

I would make darn sure to have my LLMD follow me up with a couple of months of orals after the IV. Also be sure to be treated for any co's!

If you can only get 30 days of IV, make sure you stay on orals for as long as it takes afterwards.
