I'm in Chicago, but I've read Shoemaker's book, Desperation Medicine. He discusses his "battle" with the local officials and the CDC over Pfiesteria for several chapters. Very interesting read! He also has a book that maps where the Pfiesteria in the Pocomoke is. You won't react to the Pfiesteria in the river while you're on cholestyramine. It was his book that helped me understand Lyme, as well.
