I am so sorry that you have a need to be here, but I am sure glad you found us!!
I too used to home school my kids and it got to the point that my oldest daughter was the teacher as I could think straight enough to find my way out of a wet paper bag!
I too live in the midwest - albeit, in the lower midwest.
As you can see there are a lot of us with the nuero issues from Lyme and other tick-borne infections! So you are in good company! I second what Acheivinggrace said about
healing from the neuro effects - I have come a long way myself! I have also had a lot of the cognitive issues heal and physical issues too! If all you are really dealing with is tick-borne infections, it's unlikely that your "healthy years" are behind you - unless you have other medical conditions that would negate this. Something to remember is that Lyme can be the cause of many other seemingly unrelated conditions as well. It actually imitates 300 other conditions!
If you haven't already, it would be beneficial for you to start with reading through the thread at the top of the forum titled,"New to Lyme?...Start here!!"
, as it is packed full of relevant information and informative links that have been put together by our members here! We also have a pretty good search function on this forum to help you narrow down your search for information from past posts.
What is your treatment right now? Are you aware of the importance of detoxing, dry skin brushing and drinking at least 8 -8 ounces of lemon water a day?
Here is a link to an explanation about
how easily we run down. It was written by a gal who has Lupus, but the explanation still fits! www.butyoudontlooksick.com/articles/written-by-christine/the-spoon-theory-written-by-christine-miserandino/
Hopefully it will help you to explain some things to your family.
Once again, Welcome!!! So happy that you found us!!!

I break up my post because my eyes have been effected by TBI's as well, which makes long paragraphs very hard to read.
